This is a no frill but very functional hotel. It has everything a traveller needs. There's a laundry at the basement with an attendant who will do what you need including putting your laundry to front desk after 5pm. There's also the hotel self service laundry on level 10. It is cheaper but there is only one washer and one dryer.

If you forget essentials, you can buy them at the lobby. There are 2 convenience stores in front and next to the hotel. They have very nice packaged food and the hotel staff at front desk can help heat them. You can also heat them at the store.

We love the hot bath at the basement. It is just like the onsen at one hotel we stayed in Japan. There is good sized gym next to it, though we didn't use it. The hotel personnels at front desk are very friendly and helpful. They also assist with booking tours. We took the day trip to Jisan Forest Resort with the VIP company for a very reasonable price and great service. The brochure was at the hotel. But do double check the subway routes yourself as they may give you a route that may not be the best way to go.

There are many cafes, restaurants and shops around the hotel. The nearest subway Jongno 3 Samga is just a few minutes walk to nearest exit 4 or 6. The other one Angguk station, is slightly further but the walk there is lovely with views of the mountains, mixture of traditional and modern buildings. The airport limousine bus is nearby Angguk station and they run every 30 minutes from early morning.

The room is small and they don't supply toiletries. Especially love the beds, pillows and duvets which are very comfortable and they have warm toilet seats to top it off. Breakfast is very reasonably priced. The spread is basic but sufficient. Overall happy with the choice.

We like booking ibis around the world because you know exactly what you're going to get with good value for money. This hotel was no different in that regard. The location was excellent, allowing you to walk to so many sights but especially the amount of restaurants / bars / cafes in Insadong. Subway stations were an easy walk, even with luggage. The hotel staff were always friendly & helpful, and always had a smile & warm greeting when entering. All public areas remained spotlessly clean. We had a room on the top floor (10th) with views out to Seoul Tower

Ashley Park and her front desk staff always provided best professional services from room to house- keeping plus Platinum amenities such as free grapefruit teas which I like very much.
Therefore IBIS INSADONG is my home away home in Seoul .
Only one wish is recovery of breakfast services asap.

The hotel was conveniently located near shops and restaurants, so there was easy access to go around and explore. We were also given late check-out which is standard for gold members, and it’s quite good that they were able to confirm this as early as check-in. The self-service laundry was also good as the machines can handle a huge load of clothes.

We ran into several issues, however, during our stay.

1. Air conditioning was not working, so it felt like a sauna compared to the other rooms we booked. We informed front desk and we were told it was working (which wasn’t true) and after much discussion we were given a fan which spun very soft wind. After contacting front desk again, an engineer went to check our room and confirmed it really wasn’t working. We were only able to transfer the following day as it was already late.

2. Some rooms didn’t have foam in the sitting area.

3. We weren’t given bath towels. We were given small hand towels for taking a bath.

4. The shower booth was leaking orange goo which we suspect is rust.

5. We were told that the bar isn’t open during weekends so we couldn’t claim our welcome drink. This was debunked by another staff the following weekend morning.

The location is really good so I am hoping they improve.

The Ibis is centrally located to eateries just over the road and enter the rabbit warren and a Paris Patisserie great for sandwiches and pastries. Not far from shops and markets. Breakfast is limited for European palette but plentiful (if you drink tea bring your own as cater to coffee more than tea drinkers). Room and bed very comfortable ,tea making, hair dryer, refrigerator with 2 bottles of complimentary water, working TV, hot shower, aircon, WIFI but NO toiletries.
Currency exchange available but better rate from money exchange just literally over the road.
7/11 over the road in fact 7/11 ,G25 or CU convenient shops everywhere and some located within the hotels .
7/11 has sweet potato cooking as you enter shop to left near cash register W2000 ($A 2.21 $US 1.47) cheap eats and a vegetable.
Go to rooftop for amazing day and night view over city I cant remember floor level but one needs to walk up a couple of flights of stairs and through a few doors to access rooftop .

Checked into our room and discovered that we are not able our temperature in our room. Room was 80F. Hotel informed that they have a central heating system therefore we don’t have the ability to lower our OWN room temperature although they advertised that they offer A/C. Offered fans but later said they were out.

After ALOT of fuss and complaints, they offered us rooms where we could control our room temperature that included turning on A/C when needed.. surprise surprise..

Never been in a hotel where the temperature is centrally controlled. Every guests has their own needs of what’s hot or cold for them.

Breakfast menu hasn’t changed after three days. We have eaten the same food now for three days. Staff can’t keep up with the coffee refills and filling up the juice stations.

This hotel is in a good location, very close to many shops, restaurants, dessert bars, some historical sites and the like.

The rooms were standard size and generally clean, but dated. Apart from people talking in the hall, it was quiet. Our room had a fancy Korean loo, which was an experience - in a good way!

The aircon was not effective. We stayed on two rooms on different occasions and it was warm (up to 28 degrees at night), despite the fan being on high. Our windows were bolted shut, although others told us they could open those in their rooms. It also made me wonder how the fire plan was supposed to work!!

There is no aircon in the halls either, so they can be stifling too.

Breakfast was ok. Don’t go at 8.15 as it’s packed.

Note that if you’re an Accor Plus member and on a group tour, you can’t use access any benefits or gain points. This was annoying given we’d picked a tour that went to Accor hotels.

We’ve stayed at many Ibis hotels around the world and appreciate it is for those on a budget, but this wasn’t one of the better ones.

Dear Mr. or Ms. AussieJulesW Warm greetings from ibis Ambassador Seoul Insadong, the hotel close to Palaces and Myeongdong Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We sincerely appreciate your detailed review as it provides us with valuable insights to improve our services. I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed our hotel's location and found the proximity to shops, restaurants, and historical sites convenient. It’s also wonderful to know that the unique experience with the Korean loo in your room was a positive one. However, I am truly sorry to hear that you experienced issues with the air conditioning and that your room was warmer than expected. Please accept my apologies for the discomfort this caused. Our hotel's heating and cooling system is centrally controlled, and due to the continued heatwave this summer, the cooling efficiency in the rooms may have been compromised. We are aware of this issue and are working to improve our system to better handle extreme weather conditions. I would also like to clarify that all our rooms do have windows that can be opened. If you encountered any issues with the functionality of the room's amenities, it should have been reported internally for repair. We are strengthening this process and will conduct a comprehensive inspection of all rooms to ensure everything is in proper working order. And we prioritize the safety of our guests above all else, conducting regular fire drills and system inspections. Regarding your breakfast experience, we apologize for the overcrowding at peak times and will work on improving the guest flow to enhance your experience. Your feedback about the Accor Plus membership benefits is also noted. Please understand that point accumulation and membership benefits are only applicable for direct bookings. Unfortunately, this policy does not extend to group tours or bookings made through other channels. We appreciate your loyalty to the ibis brand and are sorry that your stay with us did not meet the high standards you’ve come to expect. Your feedback is invaluable, and we will be using it to make necessary improvements. I hope that you will give us another opportunity to serve you better in the future. Thank you again for your candid feedback, and we look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel. Respectfully, Hasmin Hwang General Manager

I and my father booked a tour to Korea for 4 days and 4 nights. The tour agency had booked this hotel for our trip— the 3-star hotel located in Insadong, really near the MRT line and bus station. We stayed in a twin room with two single beds, the space was a bit small but kinda good soundproofing and enough accessories. We stayed for 4 nights and got the staff to clean the room all trip. They were nice. You need the room's card to use the elevator. Each day we got 2 complimentary bottles of water and coffee. Recommend for who travel by couple or alone, not for family cus the space was small.

The hotel is in a very good location with many things to do or see within walking distance. There are plenty of places to eat around the area so its easy to wing it while you stay here. The breakfast was very average, so we ended up exploring bakeries nearby even though our breakfast was included in our stay. The hotel staff are very accommodating, the rooms are well sized (small bathrooms however), although the rooms were very warm given they only turn the AC on when the temperature outside hits a certain number.

Quiet neighborhood during the day but crowded in the evening, especially on weekends. Bus stops and metro station within walking distance. Lots of places to dine in and a convenience store right across the street.
We didn't try breakfast because we always left early in the morning. Receptionists always available and kind, especially Brian.
Small room but always clean and equipped with everything you need. There are a kettle, sockets right next to the bed and courtesy slippers. Excellent shower water pressure. You can throw toilet paper down the toilet, which is not a given in Korea.
