Great location ! Clean and comfy rooms, nice and simple breakfast although seating area is not very big. Aircon can get chilly despite adjusting the temp. Only a few minutes walk to Myeongdong and lotte duty free mall, unbeatable location for tourist for shopping and street food . Only downside would be the small lift, and its the only lift...

You are located right in the heart of Seoul - there are many restaurants, food stalls and fashion shops at your doorstep as well as being walking distance to many attractions such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bukchon old town. It was around 1 hour taxi ride from the airport. We took an international taxi (orange) and it cost around $65NZD....

We have been to Seoul twice before this visit and not managed to stay at Metro Hotel, this time we got lucky! We had a large room for three of us with only one window - was fine by us as we were only really in the room to sleep. The breakfast in the morning was great, as venturing outside...

Very good value hotel. Great location in Myeongdong (central shopping area) and has a good metro connection too. Airport bus can get you directly here. Staff very welcoming and helpful, gave me an adaptor on request and the guard downstairs was also very welcoming with complimentary water bottles. Rooms were good with some amanetines but not if those of a...

My family with 2 kids stayed in comfort twin room for 4 nights. It comes with 2 queen beds. The room is spacious, clean , excellent service and friendly staffs. One thing to take note is the remote control of the heater in the room is actually a TV remote. Breakfast was great! Yummy selection of Korean breakfast, croissants, fresh...

I've to agree with other reviewers that the location of the Hotel is very convenient. But there's a downside to that - it's loud, even more so if you're on the lower floors. We first had a room on the 3rd floor and I couldn't sleep (even with earplugs) because of the noise from the street below. The hotel really...

We stayed here for 4 nights in Oct 2016 and at first the room seemed small and cramped, no chair to lounge etc. By the end of the stay, this did not matter as the room had all of the amenities that we needed and for the price was a great deal. Service from the front desk to security at...

It's clean, it's conveniently located within 2 minutes walk from the subway, the staff are friendly, no complains despite the very good price compared to similar standard hotels around Myeongdong. We stayed at the further room from the lift, it turned out to be quiet. Cars ply below at street level but Koreans rarely honk here as it isn't the...

Stayed here for a few nights for my first time in Seoul and I was blown away by the convenience and location of this boutique hotel. Despite being built in the 60s, the property is completely remodeled from the top down. Rooms are tiny by US standards as a regular room was a few sq ft shy of 20 sq...

Staying in Myeongdong / Namdaemun

Neighbourhood Profile
Myeongdong / Namdaemun
Arguably Seoul’s most famous neighbourhood and undoubtedly one of its most popular, Myeongdong takes shopping and eating to new heights, with hundreds of shops, restaurants, and cafes all stacked on top of one another. The rise in popularity of Korean cosmetics, fashion, and more has made this area a must-see for visitors who come and marvel at Myeongdong’s often frenetic pace and energy. Lotte and Shinsaegae’s massive department stores are also popular draws for both Korean and luxury products. The department stores, just like Myeongdong’s streets, are crowded around the clock. Myeongdong’s many street food carts are also immensely popular for their inexpensive and quirky offerings (French-fry-encrusted corn dogs, anyone?). The neighbourhood’s popularity, as well as its close proximity to other popular sights and neighbourhoods, makes it one of Seoul’s most popular places to stay.
