Location is convenient and quiet. Easy stroll to reach 3 subway lines to other areas in seoul and other cities. Close to many must see attractions and food joints. Front and Room service excellent. Requests fulfilled and when not possible, staff will advise accordingly. Room appliances all working as they should. Walkable to Gyeongyecheon Stream, Insadong and Bukchon.

This hotel is perfect for first time travelers to S.K. is close to everything and the staff is amazing 😏 Just right in front is the Gyeongbokgung palace and two blocks away are the insadong markets. We walked for hours! From the airport is very easy too: just walk outside and you will see a ticket booth just outside passenger...

Stayed a total of 4 nights for business. Overall very satisfied. The room was clean, spacious, and liked the good gym facility. The breakfast was excellent considering it was inluded in the room rate. Tried a few other hotels in Seoul but I think this hotel provides the best value for money.

The hotel needs professional and friendly staff at the front desk and business center. I have stayed Orakai Insadong and Oakwood Coex before and surprised to find out the the level of service at the Somerset Palace. The location is perfect and I would not stay there again. I would get better service at 2 or 3 star hotels.

We stayed in Somerset Grand for 2 nights recently. From Gimpo airport, we took the AREX to Seoul station. From there, it is a short taxi ride (<10 mins) to the hotel (cost:KRW6000). Alternative, you could also make your way to Angguk station, and take a short walk to the hotel. Check-in was smooth, and the front desk staff was...

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighbourhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighbourhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighbourhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the centre of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
