I stayed here 3 nights on the Intrepid Egypt Experience tour with a 3 night extension after the tour finished. Overall it was good. The breakfast buffet had a wide selection and the quality was good – esp the falafel, fava beans etc. I paid an additional charge to add breakfast to my independent booking but no one checked room numbers when guests entered the buffet area (on any of the 6 mornings). There is a no-fee ATM in the lobby which exchanges USD for EGP at a good exchange rate. Wi-Fi was good throughout the hotel. One issue though: reception won't call you a taxi. Instead, guests are directed to the hotel's in-house car and driver service. We asked for a taxi to take us to the Coptic area but the Taxi Concierge tried to sell us an expensive 4 hour tour using the hotel’s car and driver when all we wanted was simple transport to our destination. We had to go out on the street and find a taxi ourselves which was a challenge because none of us spoke Arabic and good luck finding a Cairo taxi driver who understands English or Spanish. Similarly, to get to the airport after I checked out, I had to use the hotel’s car and driver with a price three times the going rate for a good quality regular taxi. …
This hotel, like its photos, is very outdated. The bed is hard and uncomfortable, the bathroom had a bunch of problems (leaking sink, leaking shower, broken hair dryer, etc), and most of the rooms look out over a lot full of trash. It doesn't feel like a safe area to be, and the food was mediocre. While the bellmen were kind, the front desk staff was very curt and did not want to answer any questions!!
Our opinion of this hotel is very good. The rooms were spacious and clean. We found them to be quiet and were able to get our rest with no disturbances. Breakfast was great with a very good selection for all diets. Kudos to the egg station who made a show out of flipping the eggs. The security was great and we always felt safe. The only downside was the slow and unreliable wi-fi .
The restaurant on the top floor was fantastic, the service and staff at the hotel were fantastic, the only downsides were that the TV in the room did not work and the windows did not insulate the sound.
Apart from the decor of the lobby and restaurant areas downstairs, the rooms leaves you with a bad taste. Noisy from the streets at all hours, faulty bathroom, and no one really cares to rectify them, even when reported several times! Water does not go down the plughole, in the bath, which means you shower in the dirty water, with water leaking all over the floor, causing such a health hazard of slipping! We got zero assistance in solving the problem from the hotel, but in an effort to help ourselves, we extracted a disgusting dollop of gang from the plughole, evidence that no attention has been paid to this area for many years! It was more like a 2* hotel in terms of the room, and a hostel when it came to the service! I will however make a special exception to the manager at the restaurant, who spoke excellent English and was faultless in his attention to service.…
The location is close to the great Pyramids. The room is spacious and clean. Staffs are friendly and helpful. The lobby has money exchange machine which is conenient to tourists. Breakfast menu offers both international and locals foods.
Other than the Manager Mr. Ehab Zaki who did everything possible to make our 10 year wedding Anniversary memorable… Like upgrading our rooms to suites which overlook the pyramids was amazing… Thankyou Mr. Zaki for that… But hotel staff not so great… While I check out yesterday around 2:30pm the female receptionist was very rude… the day before I took my 4 year old son to swimming in pool and water was ok warm… My son and I was in the pool swimming and other customer came and said water is hot to the pool guy… Immediately he turned on the cold water and I got upset… I spoke to pool guy and offered tips too to keep hot water since my son was the only one in the pool with me… The guy said no and left. So my son and I got out of pool since we can’t afford to fall sick here… plus I waited and watched for an 1 and half that other customer didn’t even go swimming… He just left… that was really upsetting for us… we stayed in this hotel 8 days and everyday exactly the same breakfast… the second suite we stayed last two days were at other end of the hotel which was next to an nightclub…. Music n the bass we could hear till around 4 am so couldn’t sleep… if you order room service… it took two hrs to deliver… things like this made my family uncomfortable at all……
Service was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff who all went out of their way to please. Overall decor was classic with a modern twist in places, beautiful foyer. We ate in the Italian restaurant. Egyptian version of Italian only. Enjoyable food though. We also ate in the buffet restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Reasonably priced and had a great selection of European and Egyptian. Very enjoyable. Limited selection of wine and no gin whilst we were there although every other spirits. The food and beverage manager did show us all wines available so we could make an educated choice. The bedroom and en-suite were large with a bath/shower. Fridge and tea/coffee in the room too. The roof top pool was a beautiful added bonus, pool towels provided after a day in the Cairo smog visiting the sights. 3km from the nearest metro station which would be totally unsafe to walk to leaves you quite stuck in the hotel not much around. The hotel did organise a taxi to take us to the museum and come back to pick us up too. Again good service. From the Horus restaurant (no time to eat in here)on the top of the hotel you can just see the pyramids. Great for the sunset picture.…
We’ve been given a really shabby room rather than the pyramid view one we booked. food in the top restaurant was abysmal. Another couple complained vociferously and they were so right to do so. Awful customer service. I don’t know how this place has any good reviews. Suffering from extremely loud music right now from a neighbour. Avoid
Buy and use some earplugs and a blindfold, Cairo is a very busy bustleing noisy city that never sleeps. Cairo is also an amazing unique city. The only accepted currency is Egyptian pounds or American Dollars.
