As a solo female traveler I was well taken care of. I never had to eat breakfast alone and Dr. Mohamed (owner) was very solicitous of all guests needs. He even let me leave my luggage there while I went on a 3 day visit to Siwa Oasis

Dr. Mohammed is the proprietor and owner of this fantastic place. While there we felt at home and among friends. We were set up with fantastic tour guides Ahmed shihab El Din and Lamia. Both experts in egyptilogy and egyptian culture. They took us on fantastic tours around Cairo. When each day was done we returned to a comfy and convenient hotel with great food. Thanks Dr. Mohammed. Can't wait to visit again soon.

Desert Moon is a place for all. It's a hotel but has a communal living/hostel feeling. There is an incredible rooftop terrace overlooking the Giza Pyramids while enjoying a lovely breakfast served by the staff. Our room had views of the pyramids which was a bonus! Mohammed is widely knowledgeable about the history of Egypt and he is happy to share his knowledge and stories with you - this was definitely a highlight of our stay! He is also well-known in the community so he was able to kindly arrange PCR covid tests for us at the hotel (super convenient!) and can arrange tours, museum entries etc. It's in a fantastic area of Giza (away from the tourist trap areas) - close to everything and a few steps away from local restaurants and supermarkets to interact with the locals.

The staff picked us up from the airport late at night. It was about a 40 minute ride to the hotel. I have to say that the website was a bit misleading and it was honestly a bit spooky late at night since there was no check in desk and the elevator was only big enough to fit two people and some luggage. The elevator also had only 3 walls which is a huge safety hazard. We originally planned to stay three nights but only stayed one. Our room was dingy and it didn't feel safe. The towels did not look clean and the mini fridge would not stay closed. We had a pyramid view room and we could hear the noisy Cairo streets with the windows closed. The breakfast did not look appetizing, so we chose not to eat. We examined the bed for bugs and fortunately it didn't have any that we could see. My partner left a review for this establishment and it was deleted. The staff seemed friendly enough BEFORE we got there but when we checked out early we never heard back from them. My partner sent an email inquiring about a possible refund for the remaining two nights and never received a response.I cannot recommend this place. The staff never inquired about why we chose to leave early.

This is THE place to stay for a visit to Cairo, regardless of your trip duration, group number, or reason for visiting. I travelled alone during the coronavirus and Ramadan (April 2021), and had a lot of work to do (remotely) during my 10-day stay, before returning to the UK. The hotel is small, authentic, and family-run, with a real focus on guest experience. The owners Mohammed and Brigitte have taken time and care to craft this place, down to the smallest detail of the coffee, burger, and falafel recipes, which they have specially made (the best I've ever tasted). There are options for pyramid views from your room, but also a restaurant on the roof from which you have an unobstructed view of the pyramids. The staff are all smiles, and they do a great job to keep the place clean - no mean feat when you're adjacent to a windy desert! After just a few days at Desert Moon, Mohammed and Brigitte along with staff Salah and Ahmed knew what I liked to eat and what time to expect me, to the point where I stopped ordering and just waited for whatever dinner they had chosen for me to arrive. Some amazing traditional Egyptian cuisine, you can be sure of that! The air-con in my room unfortunately broke, but Mohammed was quick to offer me an additional second room for the duration of my stay, at no extra cost. He gave me the quietest room in the hotel, with the best wifi, and a large desk, so that I could work on my PhD in peace. Mohammed also took care of airport shuttles, and bringing a doctor to the hotel for the PCR covid test I needed to travel home. It is essential to mention that Dr Mohammed is actually a professor of Egyptology at the Cairo museum and university, and together Mohammed and Brigitte have 30+ years of tour experience in Egypt. He took me on a private tour of the pyramids, sphynx, Memphis, Saqqara, which included lunch and riding both a camel and a quad bike. There's no better way to experience ancient Egypt than with a guide who seems to know everyone and can read hieroglyphs to unlock the stories they tell. I also spent a day with the incredibly knowledgeable Ahmed (friend of Mohammed's, fellow tour guide, and egyptologist), touring the old religious sites of Cairo; something I can highly recommend if you want to learn about the origins of Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. I will 100% be coming back to stay here, with as many friends and family as I can muster. They all need to have the experience I have had here. Thanks Mohammed and Brigitte, and I'll see you again soon for more memories!

The room is very clean it was overviewing the pyramid The only issue was with the shower water heat (not that hot) and the air condition wasn't strong enough. The staff is very friendly they make you feel home and the terrace view is magnificent The hotel manager is very decent and caring Value to money is amazing I am so coming back the soonest that I can P.S: it is being introduced as a boutique hotel; yet the staff attitude, the welcoming, the view, and the cleanliness is way better than some other rated hotels I have been to

The rooms and clean and comfortable and the pyramid view from the rooftop is exceptional, however the real highlight of Desert Moon is the owners and staff. From the moment of arrival my comfort and interest were the key concerns of Mohammed, Brigitta and their kind team. From sourcing local foods for me to try, to starting earlier than usual to cater to my coffee habit, they really couldn't do enough for me. I leave feeling so lucky and special to have enjoyed my time there. Pro tip - Dr Mohammed is an Egyptologist and provided the best tour I've had in Egypt. He shared insider information and access to special archaeological sites, and it really was the highlight of my trip.

Great hotel with a great view of the pyramids. The owners are very lovely and friendly. Perfect place for any excursions to the local sights or a place to rest and relax. The rooftop is wide and has plenty of space to lounge around.

One of the important things about being a traveler and not a tourist is getting to know the people from the places that one visits. Mohammed is an exceptional host and I thoroughly enjoyed my time at his place, which has a wonderful view of the pyramids. I did a tour of Dashur, Sqqara, Memphis and Giza with Lamia (guide) and Khalid (driver) and it was great. Dinner on the rooftop terrace was amazing after a long day of touring and walking
