If you are planning on staying here make sure you are aware that this is in fact two hotels disguised as one online. I haven't seen reviews mention this so beware! We booked and paid for two classic (standard) rooms at the Steigenberger Pyramids Cairo (exactly as my booking says, linked to this exact tripadvisor page) but when we arrived the reception transferred to a different hotel named "Cairo Pyramids Hotel". This hotel is 'linked' to the Steigenberger via a footpath with its own lobby, restaurant, pool and rooms that are shadowed by the big Steigenberger complex and really is no more than a 3 star hotel at a stretch. There is even a sign that separates the two, and the differences are night and day. None of this is shown on tripadvisor or any other booking site so be extremely hesitant when booking here, as we turned up to a place which we had definitely not been sold. Regardless, we arrived at 4am completely sleep-deprived and so went to sleep in a noisy room that was unclean, reeked of paint, had ripped curtains, no safe, deafening AC, non-functioning lights and a bathroom door that could not physically be closed. Also we were woken up by room service at 8am. After taking this up with management in the morning, we were told that this situation could only be rectified via our travel agent, which we had wasted our entire day attempting to do. The lobby staff were even shocked when we told them the price we paid! Inquiring about this at the Steigenberger (the hotel we had actually been sold and paid for), they had told us that our booking was only for the neighbouring hotel (which is apparently under the same management but it really operates completely differently) and all of the rooms were fully booked anyways so we couldn't even stay if our booking was fixed. No effort was made by either hotel to solve our dilemma directly apart from the Cairo Pyramids Hotel moving us to identical rooms as the ones prior that did not have the same problems (still not the ones we were actually sold), although the AC in this room did begin to leak, causing a slippery floor which wasn't resolved for at least 2 hours. Contacting our travel agent, they informed us that the hotel manager had reached out to us which was news to me as this certainly wasn't true. They also claimed this "upgrade" of our rooms was what the hotel believed was a sufficient resolution to our situation, which it definitely was not as we paid for a 5 star hotel. Neither our travel agent nor the hotel are willing to compensate us with the requested refund for this false advertising even though we certainly wouldn't have booked here if what we got was displayed on the booking page, so avoid this place at all costs to escape the same scam!…
Hotel very poor. We paid extra for Pryamid View. View was lovely. Air conditioing control was falling off wall. Drawe fronts on chest of drawers were falling off. The door between the toiler and sink did not close. So much for privacy! Food choice waz VERY POOR. The first night I struggled to find anything I wanted to eat. After eating we went to the bar. I promptly threw up my meal. The barman helped me cope with this. If you are going here please try to change your hotel. I do not recommend this hotel at all. It is more like a 3 star hotel.
Hotel and rooms lovely. Food ok. Facilities good. Location amazing and will be even better when the new museum opens. Definitely coming back. Made a couple of visits to the pyramids using Viator and the taxis outside the hotel. The driver we had (Mohamed!!) was brilliant and very cheap.
I really enjoyed staying here, the rooms and beds are really comfy and have great views overlooking the pyramids. The food buffet for morning, lunch and dinner is excellent, the best ive found in Cairo. And the service and staff are very professional. There are 2 things for me that let this hotel down: 1. No fresh juices - such as Orange, Grapefruit, Guava - they bring you an orange juice and tell you its freshly made, but its not, and its highly acidic like they have been storing it for a long time. 2. No heated pool - they have a beautiful pool but NOBODY SWIMS IN IT! i wonder why, oh thats because its VERY COLD. A 5 star hotel should not leave their pool unheated. A heated pool will allow the pool to be actually used, and increase customer satisfaction. If these improvements were made, this would be a 5 star hotel for me. …
This is a very good hotel - spotlessly clean, excellent security and very efficient. We had a spacious comfortable room and it was great to wake up to view of the pyramids. Breakfasts were fabulous with a huge choice including lovely local dishes. We enjoyed eating at Il Giardino. The only thing brochures/website don't mention is that outside the hotel is a huge building site as a metro extension is being built. Also, several lanes of noisy traffic beyond that. There is no way you could risk walking to the pyramids or the museum unless an underpass is built.
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and all I would like to say is the hotel itself is very clean and rooms are amazing especially with the pyramid view. The service was very poor. The receptionist was very rude when checking us in and not welcoming at all, no smiles. Breakfast was cold the first day. The staff at the restaurant had no smile on there faces serving with no smile. We stayed and the Steigenberger in cairo city centre the service there was the best compared to this hotel. Would not stay again mainly to sldo with the service.
Such a great hotel: the staff are amazing and helpful, the room is so nice, and it's incredible to see the pyramids while sitting beside the pool! The staff were lots of fun, thank you to Shaimaa and Alaa for the exercises, the stretching and yoga is the perfect way to wind down after a big sight-seeing day.
This is a sprawling hotel . It was lovely amd we enjopyed our 4 night stay very much. For 3 nights we stayed in a regular suite . The last night we stayed in a large suite with two bathrooms and two balconies. The regulr rooms are nice and very comfortable . The suite was beautiful ! We had a pyramid view which we just loved being our first time in Egypt. Breakfast buffet isnt huge but the food is fresh and delicious. Service is great in the restaurant. It is about a 30 minute drive from downtown.
The hotel is what is expected for a 4 stars hotel in a Western Country. Good cost-benefit. But my friend got sick. Gastroenteritis. 3 nights and 2 days vomiting and diarea. She had been attended by another doctor in Luxor, quite rude. Gave injections for stop with the symptoms. The hotel doctor in Steigenberger Hotel was called 9:30 pm. Arrived not long after that. My friend went to his clinic, where he would have more assistance. He took care of the medicine. Was very very gentle and caring, taking all symptoms, explaining with patience what she had and being as gentle and sincerely caring as no men had been so far in Egypt, after 8 days. Next 2 days the doctors went to check on her several times, how was she responding to the treatment. I highly recommend the hotel specially for this extra care, sooo required when we are away from home, and even more important in such a different country as Egypt is for us, Brazilians…
Rooms are nice. The view of the pyramids is great! The clerk who showed us to the room didn’t explain how the thermostat worked. Or anything else. After calling her help, it took over an hour for someone to show up. No washcloths in the room. When they were brought up, one looked as if someone had used it to check the oil in a car, literally! Dinner was buffet style. Almost everything was bland.
