Before I highlight the glaring negatives of the place, let me give the founder his due credit for turning a desert into a green oasis, with a wonderful lake, trees, mini zoo and some really beautiful buildings. Unfortunately, his dream would have costed him a fortune and with dwindling profits, it would have been difficult to maintain this place. So, the roads became bumpy, service soured, maintenance issues crept in and the place has now turned into a ghost town. The moment you enter its mammoth premises, you are greeted by incomplete villas, broken lamp posts and swampy rooms. There was no internet, no complementary water, my shower had issues and the bed was itchy. The gym, the pool, the tennis courts and some of the hospitable staff were the saving grace. As it was a conference venue for us and was far from Cairo, we had no choice but to stay here. What a bad decision! I would have preferred to travel for 2 hours everyday rather than staying here.

The hotel is in an area that obviously had lots of money spent on it developing, but has since been abandoned (probably due to the political unrest). There is a lake with restaurants around it (all but one were shut) a theme park which rarely had more than 3 people when we walked past. The rooms were nice enough, all of the facilities you would expect and cleaned everyday. We stayed here when my son was playing a tennis tournament down the road and 90% of the other visitors were also players, officials and coaches, so I guess it would be empty if the tournament wasn't on. We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel and both were pretty ordinary and luke warm. You could have an omelette cooked while you waited at breakfast, which seemed the best option. The staff were not too friendly to us, although this seemed to be the case with most of the locals, maybe I'm just an unlikeable chap! I'm sure that if the area around the hotel was thriving, instead of looking like a ghost town, the hotel would up it's game and provide better customer service, fresher more interesting food and friendlier more content staff, but until this happens I fear the hotel will probably go the way of the rest of the businesses and whither away.

Room Tip: You would need a car as there is very little to do near the hotel.

Dirty, abandoned hotel. Bad food. The rooms are not clean. The food is terrible. Bread at breakfast is 2 days old. The Solaimaneyah region is abandoned and the hotels are empty. They look like a war zone. The swimming pool is dirty and abandoned. No beer or wine. terrible.

This is great place for conferences and events. Lots of privacy and great facilities. Make sure you get a room with a view over the pool. It's not for people who want to constantly access Cairo. It's for people who want to stay away from it all. Shuttle to pyramids and museum can be organized.
