Enjoy your stay in Aswan!
Moderate place with a wonderful view in nile and tasty food. Place is good for visits only not staying there as a hotel. Very poor service, unqualified staff at all breakfast and dinner dealyed hours with no excuses, dirty rooms. The place is not a money value at all. As i am saying, visit, enjoy the view and the food then leave directly. Thanks
I was fascinated by Nubian buildings when I first saw their pictures but the experience up front was even more enchanting! Kata Dool is a humble, yet warm and vivid little getaway from the big attractions, tucked away near the villages yet with all the modern amenities you need to be comfortable. Enjoy the brilliant colours under the beautiful sunny skies of Aswan as well as under the evening stars when everything seems from a enchanting tale - I went late in November so the weather was perfect. Kata Dool is place where you feel like doing absolutely nothing. There are lovely local shops just outside the house where you will get your load of fresh spices, tea, Nubian art and even perfume. Staff was very warm and helpful. The in house cafe/restaurant has a lovely view of the calm river that adds to the experience. As a solo traveler, it was the perfect spot to rewind and can't wait to go back again!…
We have only stayed for less than 24 hours and our stay was lovely, but I wouldn’t repeat it again and here is why: Pros: - staff are all wonderful people, they are kind hearted and super helpful - rooms are cozy and comfortable Cons: - it is extremely overpriced for what it offers - we where there in early October and the weather was unbearably hot, we couldn’t get out of the air conditioned room even at night, so if you are unlucky with the weather, there is absolutely nothing you can expect staying in bed starting at your phone. - food was advertised as “Nubian” cuisine but it tasted like a commercial meal you get at any other mid-class restaurant in Cairo, nothing authentic or Nubian about it. - there are no activities/attractions near the hotel other than the colorful Nubian houses. - the trip to the hotel from Aswan was uncomfortable (bumpy road) and expensive because it’s a long trip. The other option was to hire a boat which was more expensive (almost double the taxi fare) but I wished we hired the boat. - the village itself is overrated and everything was closed due to the Corona precautions. …
I had a reservation at Kato dool for Christmas, that I had to cancel due to Corona ,they were very understanding and helpful and they have gone the extra mile trying with booking to give me a refund ..I would definitely love to go soon and thank them myself . Special thanks to Mr.Ahmed Abdel medgeed ,for his helpful spirit.
