Hamo House has a stunning location on Elephantine and great views across to Kitchener's Island. The place is clean although the rooftop and surrounds are unfinished. I found Hamo (the host) a little over-bearing. He was around a lot and so I felt I didn't quite have the privacy I'd like. I'd skip the food and breakfast if I were you - not worth it. This place has incredible potential and Hamo is well-meaning if, like I say, very present.

We spent a few days staying at Hamo House in January 2021. It is basic looking from the outside but the inside is nicely put together and very clean. Each room opens up onto a terrace that looks out over the Nile River and over to the Botanical Gardens. You can sit and watch boats and Fallucas go by, or you can focus on the abundant bird life that stops by, including the adorable kingfishers that dive for their food right in front of you. This side of the island is VERY peaceful and you will forget that the bustling city of Aswan is only a km away. Hamada is a very gracious host and all of our needs were met above and beyond. We HIGHLY recommend Hamo House if you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful stay on Elphantine Island.

This place is situated on the quiet end of Elephantine Island. It is a great space to detach from Aswan city but still having great access via the continuous 5EGP ferry boat. The host is extremely hospitable and we managed to communicate very well with him. We hope to be able to visit Hamo house again!

This is my favourite hostel in Egypt so far. *Beautiful view of Nile River *Nice food and great travelling tips from host *Clean and tidy room *Nice hot water shower *Great location and friendly atmosphere And ladies please use common sense when you travel overseas. Accepting a free massage from a man who is not a professional masseur means more than just a massage.

Stayed here while organising a visa to Sudan for over a week, showers where hot and clean and breakfast was good with free tea and coffee all day. It’s a guesthouse and the travellers and Cairo people I meet here where supa nice. Quite location with great veiw of Kitchener Island and boats birds etc in the morning and nice to sit on balcony at night noise free which is a rarity in Egypt. Hamo is a great host and helps a lot he does smoke but which Egyptian doesn’t. There are free massages but use your brain in this one your are in a Muslim country ladies and gentlemen would you want a free massage off someone not qualified I think you are tempting fate on that one. Hamo is a entertaining man and a nice person. A guesthouse so enjoy.
