Diani Beach, Kenya

I have stayed at Karen Camp many times over the years during my stop-over travels in Nairobi. The rooms are offered at a wallet friendly price and are comfortable. As always the bar has a great atmosphere mixing travelers and ex-pats alike. The food here is always a firm favorite, well priced and large portions. For budget accommodation you can't...

Thank you for your excellent review of our Karen Camp. As you are obviously aware we have been updating, renovating and improving the camp and hotel amenities since arriving and taking over the business. Recent changes include an updated menu, whilst still keep the old favorites. We now have a tour van for local tours and for day hire -...

You will find this to be a good campsite, and a good place to eat, hang out, and have a drink. It will usually have several parties of overlanders in camp at any given time. The snake exhibit is very good if you like that sort of thing. This is a good place to stop over, or pitch your tent,...

Dear reviewer. Thank you for your great review,, but we have no snake exhibit here at our camp. We do however cater for overlanders as well as The Snake Park outside of Arusha in Tanzania, where you may have stayed and wanted the review to be about. We thought it best to inform you as it would not be fair...

I spent a couple of months (off and on) at the Karen Camp, Nairobi, and it is now under new ownership. Wonderful things are happening! The staff are always polite and never fail to offer their kind and willing service and the buildings and camp are getting a facelift! Amenities are being uplifted and generally there is a good, friendly...

I stayed here two nights prior to my overland safari. I was picked up from the airport by a lovely man who drove me to the camp site, it's a little bit far from the airport so I would recommend a transfer. Rooms are clean, beds are comfy and showers are warm. There is a bar that offers breakfast, lunch...

I stayed at Karen Camp for a few nights after arriving in Kenya from Europe. I found the place excellent to get used to the climate (getting to this hot place from European winter is quite the difference). Karen Camp offers different types of rooms, which are all relatively affordable. We had a private room on the upper floor. The...

Kind people and they helped us a lot. We were new to Kenya, but fellow visitors offered us great information about the country. There is a new owner though and prices have slightly changed (so I heard). Beds are okay, and showers are nice!

Stayed here a couple of weeks in their upstairs rooms which are more expensive and better than the dorms. The location is close to Giraffe Manor, Sheldrick's elephant orphanage, Kazuri beads, both Airports, all without having to go through the center of Nairobi city which is to be avoided because of dreadful traffic congestion all the time. Many restaurants close...

We stayed for two nights before and after our Mara trip. Our overland company use this place as the starting point for their trips. The rooms were really unclean, smelt foisty and of smoke (people were smoking in communal areas and therefore the smell heads up the open stairways) and the bedding and mozzie nets looked unclean. I slept in...
