I spent one night at Malu with my boyfriend and we both wished we could stay for longer! The cottages are wonderfully private and fully equipped with everything you could need (include fresh coffee and a caffitiere!), a fire place, an incredibly comfortable bed, private veranda and heaps of hot water for a bath. The housekeeping staff are incredibly attentive...

I must say the lodge exceeded my expectation. Starting from the great location. It is quiet and peaceful perfect for anyone who wants to run away from the hustle and bustle of the city to relax. The grounds were gorgeous and well kept. We stayed in the Mahindu cottage. The decor & ambiance was amazing. The cottage was clean, well maintained...

An atmospheric old style Kenya resort, cosy cottages, nice fires, clean linen but impression my family and friends had is that the management had given up caring much and left the junior staff to run the place as best they could. These staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive however. Our major gripe was the tiny size of the lunch and...

This place is marvellous! I went with my girlfriend for one night and both of us wished we could have stayed longer. The ambience if very relaxing. The cottages are secluded and wonderfully equipped, a well stocked minibar, incredibly comfortable four poster bed, roaring log fire, private veranda, very romantic indeed. There is no menu however the Italian themed food...

Tired or shabby aren't adequate descriptions of how run-down or ramshackle the accommodation is. The interiors are terribly ill-maintained. The basin in our bathroom was cracked and the toilet seat on the commode was falling apart. The carpets were completely worn out and frayed. This is in the main cottage. The annexe was marginally better. The pictures of the accommodation...

Stayed at the self-serve Mahindu cottages for two nights and had a fabulous time here. No network signal, just birds, colobus monkeys and beautiful surroundings. The plunge pools, the hikes in the forests are fantastic. Best of all Malu allows dogs - so our Misty had a wonderful time exploring with us. Mahindu cottages were comfortable and well equipped -...

Coming back to Malu after over 5 years was somewhat of a disappointment. The natural spring and forest were beautiful and definitely the saving grace of this lodge. The management has let the place run down spectacularly. What were once cosy family cottages are now falling apart at the seams with dated furniture. The meals were adequate and wholesome and...

Oh No. What can I say - I am very sorry that we have let you down so terribly. I'm not sure what to say. I will look into what cottage you stayed in, as others have had such lovely stays - I will look into your room and see what we can do, I am really sorry that we...

This is such a sweet little cottage and it's a perfect break from Nairobi. The gardens are adorable and the whole house is a picture. The kitchen is well equipped for and the sitting room is cosy. Love it.

Two nights and lots to do. Loved the ensuite African-sytled chalet with a verandah facing the forested hill, the hike up through the cedar forest, seeing Sharpe's starling on the canopy of the forest and more. This is the only tract of indigenous forest of cedar left on the escarpment and it's important to manage it well for the forest...

Goodness - what a review - thank you for taking the time. I really appreciate it and I love that you find the wildlife and the birds so interesting and important - Malu is such a special place and alone in its little island of paradise forest. Well done on the milking! Thank you again for such a detailed review...

We spent 2 nights at Malu a couple of weekends ago and it was fantastic. We stayed in the Mahindu Cottage which has a kitchen and the bedroom is separate from the living area. It was the perfect set up for our 16 month old. We could prepare his food and hang out in the living room in front of...
