Stayed for two nights at Karen Blixen Camp. From arriving to leaving we felt very welcome. The camp is perfect. Tents are very comfortable, perfectly located right by the river. Food and drinks in the restaurant is perfect, staff very polite and they really made us feel at home and welcome. Most importantly the guides (Fred and Daniel) were perfect!...

We spent four nights in this magnificent lodge. Luxury spacious tents nicely colonial style decorated, and all with a porch facing the Mara river and wild life. Superb service from excellent local staff. Excellent food - not least having logistics in mind. We had probably the best game driver, Nicholas. Karen Blixen camp runs a school for local people and...

Hippos right outside our tent (well, in the river). The tent is huge and comfortable and was the nicest of all the hotels and lodges we stayed in. I appreciated the solar energy used. And the food! All the Kenyan food we'd had during the week (elsewhere) was pretty bland. Not bad, just blah. The food at the Karen Blixen...

We had taken a 13 day safari and this was the last stop before we were to fly home from Nairobi. The 3 nights at the tent camp was by far my most favorite type of lodging. Other than the oppressive heat in the tent during the first day we arrived, it was such a great way to end our...

In short: Karen Blixen Camp was great. In terms of value for money, we got an amazing experience worth every penny. Felt extremely well taken care of and everyone felt like they were safe at all times. The pictures give a very good representation of how the camp looks and feels. Thanks to all in the managing staff for being...

This is the fifth time I have been on a safari in Kenya and this has to be the best camp and safari experience to date. The animals in the area of the Mara North Conservancy are prolific. During a three day, two night stay I saw 19 lions including cubs, three cheetah, a leopard and a myriad of other...

We stayed in the camp for 3 nights in January 2017. This was my first visit to Africa, and first time going on safari, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was more than impressed! The camp is set right on the river, with a wonderful view from the eating area of a whole variety of animals who...

We stayed in the Karen Blixen Tended Camp for four nights in February 2017. The camp is fantastic. Suited on the Mara river, the tents are very luxuries, with plenty of space, a comfortable bed and a beautiful porch overlooking the river. (All tents have a view on the river). The staff are amazing and happy to help out with...

We were very lucky to spend two nights.....it was a truly wonderful experience. Not just the amazing safari drives with our very knowledgeable driver, which allowed us the great privilege of ring side seats to the best that the Mara could offer (leopards!!!!) but the staff and comfort of the camp was just perfect! I spent most of my time...

About as good as a true authentic African bush experience as you can have along with some of the comforts of home. A luxurious tented camp . Nice common area. No gym or ability to exercise. A preponderance of Dutch tourists when we were there. Very nice open view of river/watering hole right at common area with resident hippos and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Karen Blixen Camp in the Masai Mara offers an authentic ’yesteryear’ experience for visitors wishing to gain that little extra from their safari. Set on the bank of the Mara River; the location is spectacular. Throughout the day elephants, giraffes, zebras and impalas come for a drink while a large hippo pod rest lazily in the river. The Camp gives a feeling of the early 1920’s era with beautiful and comfortable furniture. ... more   less
