We stayed in the camp in August this year, the location was amazing-very close to animals you can infant hear them at night! The staff are really nice and the food is ok but the tents are not that great. Ours was quite dirty-bathroom was really dirty and shower was a trickle with no light. There is a swimming pool... The camp is really close to the park with great staff. Incredibly friendly. The food is below standard, sometimes cold. The tents are good but with the electricity only on for 2 hours in the morning and evening the place can look a little dreary. The swimming pool needs to be treated as it was very dirty although we weren't... More

My friend and I booked this camp through Silver Bird Travel Agency. At the end, we don’t know if the thieves were only the people at the camp, or if the travel agency was involved, but I’ll share my story: The game drive was organized by the camp and the ride itself was OK, we had a good driver (Simon)... We are a family of three from Sydney, Australia and spent three nights at Kichakani mid December. We received a very warm welcome arriving by all the excellent and very friendly staff - Yobes, the manager with JJ and Dominic. The environment around the camp is very beautiful, we saw baboons around the river and lots of birds. We strongly recommend... More

My friends and I spent 3 nights at Kichakani in mid October. We were initially quite alarmed as we were the only ones staying there and started to wonder why our travel agent had booked us here?? Apparently though we were at the end of the season. Having said that the place was clean and comfortable and had everything we... More

Firstly, I want to say how good the staff are. I had the privelege of dealing with the owner of the business prior to arrival and then was looked after by the camp manager and his staff wonderfully well. The accommodation was acceptable - if you are used to western luxury it doesn't compare, but for what and why you... More

We were looking for a medium to economical range campsite and Kichakani was a great choice. The camp is located very near to one of the entries and has beautiful views of the reserve that is just across a small river. The tents are big, clean and have everything you can need during your stay. Each tent has a veranda,... More

The service was courteous & friendly, the camp is clean and well adjusted to the environment. Kitchen was excellent and tasty. We had the luck to see all important big animals except the rhino. And therefore we have to come again! :-) Greetings from Vienna, Austria.

Kichakani Camp is actually a no frills camp with basic services. The tents are good sized and fairly comfortable. The electricity is put on between 5.30 AM and 7.30 AM in morning and 6.30 PM to 10.30 PM in evening. That is the time when one can charge cameras, mobiles, IPADS etc. I could see some Zebras and Impalas across... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Innovatively conceived spectacularly on the edge of the expansive Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kichakani Camp a simple but classic camp nestled amidst the big figs of the Mara. It offers a panorama of the Burrungat and Posee plains on its sides. The camp is conveniently located on the banks of the Talek River, just next to a major wildebeest crossing point. With the river as the only physical boundary between the park and the camp, it offers excellent game viewing. The camp décor and architecture is intentionally simplistic in nature, with semi-permanent grass thatched bandas fitted with tents – flash toilets and hot shower bathrooms en-suite – and a deck for outdoor sitting. The food is a fusion of African and International cuisines prepared and presented in a unique African style. Kichakani Camp does not miss to capture the romance of safari life. ... more   less
