The resort staff was very friendly and always available. The manager is a very nice guy and Elija, our guide to the game drive was very competent. It felt so good to stay at the resort we had a great time. Pool was small but in a cozy garden. The game drive was excellent, we saw lots of animals and...

We stayed here for 3 days/2 nights in September. This lodge has had some negative comments recently but I can say they are undeserved. The location is stunning, it's right on the mara river with hundreds of hippos basking in the river only a few hundred meters away. The rooms are basic but clean and the hot water bottles at...

Spent 3 days on a safari in the David Livingstone resort in Masai Mara to kick start our honeymoon. Wow! Amazing. Sitting eating breakfast watching hippos play about in the water is an experience everyone should have. Great location, superb staff - Duncan was our driver during safari and very knowledgeable and friendly. Manager was very friendly and genuinely interested...

Had a very enjoyable trip to this lodge, couldn't fault the location and the staff, Everyone went out of their way to ensure our stay was memorable. Yes you have to pay for drinks but this cost is minor as the food was excellent. The monkeys are quite amusing in the various attempts made to steal the bread and the...

I do not understand the reviews saying that the food was bad and that the staff were unhelp full. That was not the case when I was there. and to there are no animals that is just lies. The Lodge is on the edge of a river which has lots of hippos in the day and they leave the river...

I have just returned from this location. food bad people unhelpful no animals hardly as the lodge is on edge of the Mara. Lights out 10pm we had to carry our own bags to aircraft in the heat. Driver of safarie vehicle did not explain about the area, and always arrived back at the lodge 15 minutes early, drove for...

Wonderful setting. Hippos in the river are very entertaining. Bushbaby in the restaurant in the evening loves bread rolls. Staff at this lodge are extremely helpful. Julius our guide was very knowledgeable and found plenty of animals for us. Rooms basic but clean, lights out at 10 as the generator gets turned off then and its completely dark on site....

We received a great welcome on arrival and thought the briefing and introduction from all the staff was great, making for a friendly environment. The game drives were well-organised and there was a good balance between trips out and time to ourselves. January appears to be a great time to go as the weather is good, lots of animals to...

I've been there in 2006 in a 3days-2nights flight excursion from Watamu. During same vacation i spent 5 days and 4 nights among other parks of Kenya and everything was perfect. We had some problems in first game and we asked to go in Game reserve instead turning around in conservation area without a task or better without a guide...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mara River Lodge commands one of most spectacular views in the Serengeti - Mara ecosystem; the lodge lies on the Mara River at the edge of Maasai Mara Game Reserve and overlooks deep pools where crocodiles and hippos bask all day. Painted in traditional Maasai red ochre and lit by hundreds of lanterns, the lodge is surrounded by indigenous trees and plants and is an attractive complement to the local environment. Guests can see hippos across the river from their tables as they sit down to enjoy the international cuisine on offer. Families of hippos spend their days basking in the deep pools beyond the bars and restaurant throughout the day. After a hot day's safari Maasai warriors in full regalia greet guests as they return to their 'bush home'. ... more   less
