This is a stunning camp about a 20 minute drive from Talek Gate into the reserve. However the drive across the Mara is a long and very bumpy one, it took us approx. 2 and a half hours so the drink and towels offered on our arrival were very much appreciated. The tents are very large and beautifully furnished throughout...

It is difficult to know where to start to describe the unforgettable experience of this safari. From the meeting with our driver/guide Jonathan, to the lovely warm welcome at the camp and the courtesy and helpfulness of staff it was quite remarkable. As a keen photographer himself Jonathan immediately recognised a fellow fanatic and our safari had begun. Our journey...

Well it was, other than the elephant making a noise late one night. However this cannot be the fault of the camp, but it can be a bonus, because the guides were more than willing to let my wife and I, dressing gown dressed, follow them just so we could see the elephants playing in the river outside our tent....

I thought the two hour drive into the Mara was bad until i saw the driveway into the camp we stayed at. Craters bigger than our vehicle, even at a crawl it is bone jarring. Tent was nice and very comfy, ours had a view of the river and the moneys that live on the other side. Food in the...

Thank you for your review of our camp. As a policy we take all guest comments very seriously and the concerns that you have raised here are no exception. On the matter of the roads, we face a challenge as the main road to the Maasai Mara is managed by the national government. All other roads in the county and...

Stayed here two nights with my wife and really enjoyed it. Beautiful tented rooms with fantastic facilities and very comfortable. Great views of the plains and fantastic service by the staff. They also have a nice swimming pool and bar facility. Food wise it's average. We had a super tour guide called Francis who showed us the best spots and...

Thank you for your great review of our camp. We are glad you enjoyed you stay at Tipilikwani Mara Camp, it was our pleasure hosting you. I stayed in this camp for 2 nights with my family. My daughter is 8 years old and my son is only 2 years. Camp welcomes us with fresh juice and cold towel which was a relive after the long travel from Nairobi. Reception area is quite normal and can give the wrong impression about the lodge. But when you...

We stayed from 2-5 September. We came with friends and stayed in 2 tents. Everything from welcoming us upon arrival and through our stay the personnel was friendly and very helpful. The camp is relatively small, about 20-25 tents which gives it quite and relaxed ambience. Tents are nicely decorated and furnished. Camp personnel bring hot water bottles over night...

Great service from moment we arrived. The tents were fantastic and of high quality. Food menu choice was very good but with some allergies the chef actually prepared personalised special dishes for us. The stay was comfortable and the location was superb. We loved the tented rooms, very comfortable and clean. We were the furthest from the main facilities, and there was always someone to escort us after dark. A nice intimate feel to the place, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food also great. Unfortunately we were only there one night.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This uniquely situated luxury camp on the banks of the Talek River overlooks the mottled plains of the Maasai Mara, where vast herds of wildlife co-exist with the colourful Maasai people. Between June and October the Maasai Mara plays host to one of the most spectacular wildlife shows on earth the great annual migration of over a million wildebeest and zebra as they enter the Mara ecosystem from Serengeti in neighbouring Tanzania. Tipilikwani's tents enjoy river frontage and are decorated with warm, rich Maasai colours. The family tents have a stand alone bath tub in addition to showers. Excellent food, personalised service and traditional Kenyan hospitality further compliment the prime location. Game drives offer the unforgettable opportunity to enjoy the diversity of animals and birds living permanently in the Masai Mara, as well as many migratory species. Guests can also learn more about the Masai people, proud pastoralists and warriors, many of whom still retain their traditional nomadic lifestyle. ... more   less
