Lovely looking rooms. Constant lingering smell of urine. Rock solid beds. Disgusting very expensive breakfast. Very rude, unhelpful and positively obstructive staff. Metro is not far away but the staff will not give you any assistance to find it. No English spoken unless they decided they would. Cannot read the Chinese translation app. I asked about the silk markets other... More

Let Down We were looking forward to our stay as the internet pictures looked wonderful with a nice, Central garden Ching Dynasty single level buildings Close to Metro. The pictures of the hotel and grounds are not representative. Many of the ground floor rooms and suits have translucent treatment on the windows making the rooms very dark and dingy. The... More

Beautiful place to live in. I stayed here for 2 weeks and I never got sick of the area. The temperature was good and the location was fabulous. Close to the train station and away from traffic. The night sleeping was great. Would highly recommend

Travel agent recommended after staying at multiple 5 star hotels. Would not recommend. Gardens are lovely, but hotel felt old and smelly. Room smelled, could hear next door urinating. Was traveling solo on this trip and did not feel I could leave hotel to walk around myself. Check in staff was not friendly when arrived. One restaurant. Bed in room... More

We stayed three nights when we came to China before traveling to other areas. We then stayed one night in different rooms when we came back through Beijing to catch a flight home. We rented three rooms for our family and they were all clean, well appointed, spacious and perfect for us in every way. The staff was very helpful... More

Beautiful oasis in the midst of a teeming city. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the bamboo garden is amazing. And this all in the middle of the center of Beijing. The location in a hutong gives a true picture of what life is like for most people in Beijing. The staff is very friendly and the... More

Beijing can be assault on the senses, but the Bamboo Garden manages to provide an oasis of quiet, due to its backstreet location. Situated a short walk from the Drum and Bell Towers, the entertainment district of Houhai and the Gulou subway station, it's conveniently situated for exploring central Beijing. It can be a little difficult to find, as it's... More

I had checked into the Bamboo Garden Hotel on a Sunday night, and after a few hours of being in Beijing, I started having trouble breathing. As it turned out, I was having an allergic reaction to something, though I STILL can't tell you what that might have been. The lady at the front desk helped me arrange for an... More
