From the outside, this hotel looks like a dinosaur. But it's not as bad as it looks--sort of a mediocre combination of old and new. My room was spacious, with a nice big bed and clean bathroom. You can find all sorts of packaged goods for sale in your room: condoms, cell phone power banks, socks, slippers, you name it....

For a 4-star hotel Yanshan lacks the basic amenities any (business) traveler needs, such as reliable internet connection, help with travel arrangements, and, most importantly, hotel staff that is responsive. Despite booking a cab to take me to the airport at 5:30 in the morning, the hotel not only didn't care about the fact that the cab didn't show up...

Stayed their for 4 days for a conference. Location in China's Capital. Food was good. Staff is friendly, but staff other than higher ranks and reception, can't speak proper English. The fixtures and furnishings are all from a bygone era. A good enough hotel, but not memorable. recommend for business travel, not for tourists.

I stayed at Beijing Yanshan Hotel three or four years ago and just recently made a return visit. It seems as if the hotel was wrapped in a time capsule; nothing has changed since I last stayed at the place. It's not a bad hotel; reasonably clean and functional. But the fixtures and furnishings are all from a bygone era....

Stayed 7 nights in August. An old fashioned hotel near the Renmin University and a subway station. Room and bathroom was clean and adequate. Service was fair. A few nice restaurants at the shopping mall next to the hotel.

If I could rate the hotel based upon their star rating, I'd give them a 3.75, but not a four. Not sure what the Chinese rating system is like...Nothing wrong with their property, but it is not a western Four Star. The location is a five minute walk from Renmin Station Line 4 and a 10 minute walk to RenDa...

I was born and grew up in zhongguancun. so this is truly my neighborhood. my parents still live in the same apartment building. when I visit them alone, I of course stay with them; but now I go with my 6'5 american husband in tow, they simply do not have long enough bed for him! for the first a few...

This is an entirely acceptable hotel that is convenient to Renmin University and the Beijing Metro. It is relatively short taxi ride from the airport, cost 100-120 Yuan. The rooms are comfortable though somewhat run down. The plumbing rattled a bit, the toilet ran until you jiggled the handle, and the A/C was weak. The staff is friendly and tries...

Minimal English at reception, so be prepared to spend a bit of time explaining things when checking in if you don't speak Mandarin Chinese. No breakfast if booked room by Expedia. Old TV. Old school pink toilet and tub. 5 min walk to the Metro. 1 hour plus to go to Forbidden Palace (not recommended as it was too crowded)....

The stay at this hotel was relatively pleasant. It is only rated at 3 stars so we didn't expect much. However, they hold conferences for people from all over the world so we expected that the staff would be able to speak relatively good English. Not so. If you plan on staying make sure you carry a translator at all...
