PROS: Location... location... location is its best asset. Centrally located in Beijing, you couldn't ask for a better location. It is a leisurely 15-min walk to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, a hop-skip-jump to Beijing's train station, Temple of Heaven and other POI's as well as a block away from the New World Shopping Mall, Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, KFC, McDonald's and Starbuck's. Having the intersecting subway lines 2 & 5 at its doorstep is a big plus, and being located along major Metro thoroughfares doesn't hurt either. (To my delight, a good find is Weiduomei Bakery & Café just around the corner.) Its next best asset is its excellent value. Ranging from £65 per night for a standard, single room up to £80 per night for a suite, it is of good value compared to its peers for its 3-star rating. The rooms are reasonably sized, clean and stocked with your standard 3-star amenities: TV, coffee/tea, hairdryer, water bottles, in-suite safe and even slippers. There is an in-house restaurant, bar (along with karaoke), free WiFi and 24-hour reception.
CONS: A few come to mind -- First, the bed mattress was downright hard (okay, firm) as if you're sleeping on the box springs. I've been told that this is standard among Beijing hotels as if mattress firmness was a government regulation. Second, the A/C was quite weak and the WiFi signal cannot reach the top floors. Third, service is a hit-or-miss affair. Although the Desk Manager (Mr. Ko Han) was quite helpful and accommodating (especially when checking me in at 2 AM), the reception staff with him were non-English speakers and were as stoic as Terra Cotta warriors! Lastly, the in-house bar could use better signage and publicity.
Verdict: A decent, middle-of-the-road discount hotel. Not bad, but not great either. But it makes it up with its excellent location and good value. I'm not such a fussy traveller. I wouldn't necessarily discourage you from choosing this hotel, just lower your expectations. Adequate for a few nights but, for much longer stays, there are better options in the city. Grade B+.

Rooms are small but reasonable size
The rooms are not clean, the carpet is very dirty
The bathroom is very moldy
The bed has been made poorly and is very hard, pillows are very good
There is a weird plastic crate thing in the shower you stand on that hurts your feet, the shower is broken and the water from the sink comes back up through shower drain and floods bathroom
Other people in my group had far worse rooms than me and hotel were very reluctant to move to other room
The location is fantastic; there is Chongwenmen metro station right next to the hotel entrance which is on two of the major Beijing subway lines meaning you can access pretty much anywhere from here with little hassle. Also the Forbidden City and Tienanmen Square are around a twenty minute walk from the hotel, although most people would choose to get there by public transport. Conveniently there are a good amount of supermarkets and restaurants within a few minutes walk (including a few western places such as Starbucks and McDonald's).
The hotel itself was more than adequate for what we needed. The rooms were sufficiently clean and spacious (the bathroom was one of the biggest on the tour), and the only complaint I had was that it did get very warm even in spring when it wasn't too hot outside. I'm happy to put that down to me not being able to figure out the AC. The staff were helpful and although spoke limited English did try their best to answer any questions that we had or generally help out.
Reception staff were friendly but very poor wifi. Complimentary water in rooms and good TV channels in English. Hot water and good power shower in bathroom.
