I had a staycation with my family in the past few days. When we have any problems with our staycation, the hotel manager named Gary OR, is willing to help us, we also feel satisfied with his service. Besides, the room is big and clean. The location of the hotel is convenient.

Booked a room for family staycation last week. Great service provided from concierge and front desk staff especially Nigel arranged me a nice room. Hotel swimming pool and gym room were available. Room was big and clean.

It was hilarious to receive e-mail from the Hotel and invited me to write a review on Tripadvisor, here I am and they probably will regret about this. They do have some Pros: affordable price, very convenient location, spacious room, well functioning TV, smooth check-in and out, the staff at the reception who helped me to check out was nice (while I felt not very welcoming when I checked in) And here are the Cons: I read from the review before I made my booking, so I knew this five-star hotel is dated and was prepared for that, but the situation was way below my expectation and there are traces everywhere which shows immediate renovation is needed The dated room came with a musty smell, stains can be found all over the cushioned windowsill and chair (which I did not dare to sit or even put my bags on) - The handle and joints of the seat cover of the toilet were rusted so you can hear the squeaky sound every time flipping the cover up and down - Mould can be seen in certain areas of the toilet - Even the telephone looks dirty - Since we have 3 people staying, I was told that the sofa bed should be made when we went up stairs and asked us to call if this has not been done yet, when we went up, the bed has not been made yet and there were no amenities prepared for the 3rd person (towels, slippers, bottled water etc.), so we called and told the staff about the situation, the staff first replied that she would ask colleague to send the amenities to our room, when we stated that the sofa bed needed to be made as well, she seems noted about the situation but when we returned to the room that night, only the bed has been made and there were no amenities for the third person, we have to call again for getting those. - Here comes the worst part, we found a screw in the shower, clearly visible on the rack with rust surrounding, it seems to me that no staff bother to remove it and just leave it that way (the rust definitely shows that the screw has been put there for quite some time) I understand that hotels are facing extremely adverse situation due to the pandemic, that service and operation may be affected, yet I had been staying in some other hotels during pandemic (five and four-star hotels with similar price range) and that gave me a big contrast with Regal Hong Kong. The room was clean yet the facilities are poorly maintained, it occurs to me that "hardware" are the major problem and probably requires a massive renovation. All in all, I would not recommend this hotel to someone who is looking for a "staycation", it may only be good for people who have budget concern and not planning to stay in the room for too long but looking for a hotel in a convenient location.

I fully agree with you there are few areas no up to a reasonable expectation which we will take immediate action to rectify. At the present situation around the globe, hygiene is the highest priority in every aspect especially for a hotel. In addition, maintaining a good condition of room’s fixture also play an important role for us to compete with other hotels within the area. Apart from the above, we are sorry about some delay on your requested service which is adding more disappointment to your experience. This to express my total disappointment with your Regal Hotel Hong Kong Front Office Manager Mr. Gary Or. Being a supportive guest who spends 20+ nights every month at your hotel - I am seriously shocked, disappointed and with much anger being treated by him like this. Gary Or's attitude towards me, specifically on 13 March was UNACCEPTABLE! I told him that I would extend for another night when he called. He "ordered" me to come down to the lobby immediately to settle the payment!! I have stayed at many international standard hotels and know this is certainly not necessary! Yet I still went down to the lobby to settle the extension per his request but his attitude got even worse. The funniest part is he said I have a poor attitude and he's not afraid of this complaint being escalated. Is this how the front office staff at Regal Hotel is trained? Is this how the so-called "Regal's long-standing commitment to quality, its attention to detail and its world-class hotel management" is all about?
