Hotel's Favourite
We found this hotel by accident when we were looking for a serviced apartment-type place since we will be in Singapore for 10 days, so that kinda narrows down the choices. It's a little pricey but not extremely when you compare it with others of the same category. Plus their rooms have bidet which is essential for us. Turns out not all hotels in SG have bidet. Anyway, given the decent ratings they have, we booked our stay here and I'm glad we did. I'm pleased to say that we didn't encounter some of the complaints in other reviews. Location - other reviews have noted that the hotel is difficult to find due to lack of signages. Initially, I was worried too because the taxi driver wasn't familiar with the hotel. So I just showed him the address which settled it. Upon arrival at the building's driveway, there are plenty of signs that point where the hotel is. You wouldn't miss it. Unlike other hotels that have their own building, Dao shares it with OUE Downton building which is a mixed-use complex comprising of offices, gyms, restaurants, boutique stores, etc. The hotel itself is located on the 7th floor. But as I've said, it's hard to miss given the signs around. Room - we booked a 1BR deluxe suite which is more than enough for our family of 3 with a 2yo toddler. It has a living/dining area and a separate bedroom. Toilet and shower are separate so occupants can use the other simultaneously. It also features a full fridge, oven/microwave, coffee maker, washing machine, as well as basic cooking and dining utensils. Those amenities are really a must when staying for long. I thought there's no microwave but apparently, the oven also functions as a microwave. There's a bit of a learning curve there but the appliances' manuals are available which helped. They also provide laundry powder for the washing machine but when I checked the manual, it's designed for a laundry detergent so we just bought our own. Housekeeping is prompt and never missed a day. However, one thing I think can be improved on is the room's lighting because it's a little dim. There's not much of natural light going in so it can be a bit dark sometimes. Breakfast - I think some reviewers have noted that there's not much variety daily. They're right but personally, I don't mind that much since the offerings are plenty. There's continental but it's primarily asian and a little vegetarian I guess? They also didn't serve beef and pork. The most pork and beef I had was bacon and corned beef. Usually, it's either chicken or fish, then veggies. Coffee is free flowing which is nice. The breakfast area is small but we never had to wait to be seated even when we eat during peak hours. Staff - everyone's helpful and pleasant. I didn't get all their names but thanks everyone! Other things to note. Since the hotel is located downtown, it's quite a peaceful area especially on weekends. It's virtually empty. Personally, I like that better because we never had to crowd in public transpo unlike when in Orchard. Unless you're fond of shopping, there's not much to do there. Singapore is well connected anyway and this area of hotel is no different. It has many bus stops nearby while the nearest mrt is at Tanjong Pagar. And Shenton Way if you're going to the zoo. Marina Bay is also walking distance, around 20 minutes, if you're up for it because the heat can be too much. Chinatown is also near. Lau Pa Sat is also close by. We ate there for almost throughout our stay because the stalls are plenty and varied enough. I think it's known for satay which is also amazing. The popular satay stall is no. 8 though we tried no. 7 which is also good. Love the sauce. Every hawker stall we tried was phenomenal. Must try really when there. Attended an event and decided to stay at their 1 bedroom apartment. I’m very happy with their service staff on how they served and treated us. From checking in to check out. All smooth and easy. We stayed there 3 to 4 weeks as a temporary housing. It was just perfect. Very spacious and modern apartment. Great facilities, amazing pool, extremely friendly staff esp Anthony and all the reception staff. A lot of special attention to the kids who loved staying there as well. Perfect location in the center of CBD.
