Had a great stay at the Wanderlust hotel, which had a contemporary and funky hotel design. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and service was reasonably friendly. The room designs are probably more suitable to younger travelers though, and not ergonomic for older folks with mobility issues.

to be honest, we are really very disappointed, the moment we stepped in the room, we regretted our decision. The room is very dark, and right next to the elevator, so can't really opened the curtain without being seen, but the light is so dark and you feel you can't really open the eyes. I think the reason is to...

We spent one night here basing our choice on the wonderful reviews and the beautiful pictures we have seen on the internet. The hotel is part of a well-known chain (Design Hotels) and is absolutely gorgeous. The room was spacious and stylish. The staff was really kind. Good breakfast. Even the restaurant inside the hotel was very nice. We couldn't...

Very retro decor. Jacuzzi is pretty fantastic. Disappointed with the coffee as it's only filtered coffee and the coffee machine broke and they've given up on it so that kinda put me in a dark mood. but the food was great and slightly made up for it! Looks pretty bad from the outside but it's a completely different story on...

Stayed in one of the whimsical room with a type writer sofa. The sofa is of course more for show than functional. The room was not huge but larger than I expected. Good facilities and a complimentary non-alcoholic minibar. We had a late flight the day of departure and asked if there where any chance to get a shower later...

we arrived in Singapore after a long flight from UK. Getting to th hotel was easy using the train service from Airport to Bugis Station took about 20-30mins and then a 10min walk to hotel. When we got to hotel, we were greeted with a friendly smile and an efficient check-in. Room was as many have stated, quirky, we were...

It is quirky and small which you may like but it lead to some real issues for us. Initially taxi driver couldn't even find it - they really need a sign that sticks out into the street. No one to help with bags but check in was OK other than no you can't have late checkout this is not a...

We stayed in the whimsical space room, and the friendly staff decorated our room with flower petals knowing it was our anniversary. How sweet! The room was perfectly clean, with a really nice ambience from the black walls and starlight. Room comes with a smartphone for loan, helps you with your travel planning and commuting. Quite a number of eating...

This was a great introduction to Singapore. Was really close to the train station, and right in the heart of Little India. A great location to begin exploring, and reference point for hotels. The room I stayed in was super quirky and cool. The details of the hotel made this stay go from good to excellent--the complimentary drinks/espresso in the...

Staying in Little India

Neighbourhood Profile
Little India
With a strong local Indian community, this pocket of Singapore can feel like another place and time. Wander past traditional barbershops while local residents in brightly coloured saris patronize retailers from decades past. Peruse streets lined with colourful shops as the aroma of curry tempts you to indulge. Listen to the Bollywood music echoing from storefronts and take in the stalls selling bright flowers, fabrics, and spices. At the 24-hour, four-level Mustafa Shopping Centre, you can shop through the night and find everything from pharmacy and grocery items to Bollywood DVDs and diamond necklaces. Singapore’s Little India offers a colourful, lively taste of the subcontinent and is well worth the visit.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Wanderlust in Little India draws madcap, curious voyagers to the old ethnic enclave. Made for guests with a sense of adventure, we invite you to walk the unconventional path where a radical hotel experience awaits. Its history began in the 1920s as the Hong Wen School, where the building at No 2 Dickson Road still retains its old-world charm with an unchanged façade. Situated 10 minutes from the cosmopolitan stretches of Orchard Road and the Central Business District; Wanderlust also offers door step access to a bustling, colourful street life. The four storey boutique hotel has 29 rooms. Just as no 2 rooms are identical, the same can be said for each floor in the hotel. It features the groundbreaking works of award-winning Singapore design agencies. Each agency was given full creative freedom to design an entire level in the hotel, resulting in four, different ‘in-your-face’ themes – ‘Industrial Glam’, ‘Eccentricity’, ‘Is It Just Black and White?‘ and ’Creature Comforts.’ ... more   less
