Hotel's Favourite
Words cannot describe how perfect the hotel is, right from the minute we entered all the way to the convenience of checking-out. We were welcomed with a gong. At reception, Sam greeted us and offered us a late checkout knowing that it was our anniversary staycation. There was also a tea ceremony where we were served delicious tea and mooncake. The hotel was booked out the weekend when I checked again but there was no crowd at all (except the pool). Room felt just nice. Layout wasn't too cramped. We had free minibar drinks too! The in-room tea from Pryce fitted the style and feel of the hotel very well. The view from the room was also very scenic! The only thing I had to point out was the toilet bowl detects any slight movement and will start spraying water/sanitising/cleaning so we had to leave the door close whenever we walked past it. We tried the pool at 4+pm, it was full with people on the sunbed (nobody was swimming), so we went to the gym instead. It was well-equipped. We managed to go the pool again at 8am the next day and it was pretty empty. We left the room for dinner and had the 'no-disturb' sign on. When we came back, we had a note saying that they wanted to delivery something but couldn't do so and asked us to call them back. A while later, they delivered a note and a bag of chocolates for our anniversary celebration. Checkout was a breeze. We only had to drop our cards in the express checkout box and we were out. Thank you The Clan Hotel for a wonderful staycation and we'll definitely come back again :)

Given the hotel's 5* rating I had high expectations, which on the whole were not met. I will start with some positives: the location is great and the breakfast was good in terms of range of items and quality. We appreciated having access to showers, the pool and the gym both before check in and after check out. Unfortunately that is where the positives end. We arrived early in the morning so expected a wait before we could check in. We clearly very tired when we arrived, yet no-one from the front desk contacted us to let us know our room was ready, we had to proactively go and ask. That was a very clear and obvious opportunity to deliver good service that I would have expected a 5* hotel to pick up on. We got to the room and my heart just sank. I’d say it was only big enough for a 2/3 night stay at most and there was very little in the way of clothes storage so I pretty much had to have all my clothes in my suitcase for the duration. My husband and I were falling over each other throughout our stay as the small amount of floor space we had was being taken up by our luggage. Breakfast was where the majority of my issues were though. I was told off for wanting to clean up my table a little bit before I left it. Surely if I don't want to leave the table in a mess, that should be my choice as the guest? The lady who came rushing over made me feel like I had offended her as she announced that SHE would clean the table. Yes I am fully aware that the table will be cleaned by the staff but this does not mean I am comfortable leaving it in a mess. I was made to feel like I was in a prison, not hotel! In the end I learnt to look around to make sure that no-one was watching before I removed crumbs and other debris from my table. Completely unacceptable that I had to do that. We were also accused of not paying for the breakfast because the lady misheard my husband when he said the room number (mistook eleven for ten, they don’t even sound similar), even though he spoke slowly and clearly. A colleague stood next to her told her we had paid as he remembered us from the previous day but still she wouldn't let this go and stood over our table "confirming" that she checked with the front desk and we had not paid. Only at this point did she bother to double check she had recorded the room number correctly, which she had not. Again, totally unacceptable. I'm told that Singapore is famous for its attentive but discreet service culture. This wasn't the experience I had at The Clan unfortunately.

It’s been an excellent stay. The hotel staff are very polite and attentive (Ariz). The tea ceremony set against the beautiful decor, was a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The team also gave great local recommendations to explore around Singapore.

We stayed for just one night but were accommodated with bag storage due to our early arrival, and also storage the following day because of our late departure. On both occasions we were offered shower and bathroom facilities for our use which was fantastic after an overnight flight. Towels were provided and the showers were fantastic. When we got to our room it was great, and the bed was excellent, huge and so comfortable As far as location, the hotel is close to a bus stop and the tube station is diagonally opposite, so close that we took the tube back to the airport at a cost of S$ 1.99 each ! The City Mapper App works in Singapore so getting public transport is a breeze, and payment is just a tap and go with your credit or debit card. We would absolutely recommend this hotel

The Clan Hotel was a perfect Place to spend 5 nights to explore Singapore and relax. The MRT station is just across the road so access into all areas is easy and the location right on the edge of Chinatown so lots to see on the doorstep and many places to eat within walking distance. Loved the dark, elegant but understated decor which has a cocooning effect; and that together with the quietness of the rooms was very relaxing and meant we enjoyed a great nights sleep throughout our stay. Breakfast buffet excellent and staff very helpful. Highly recommended.

My wife and I stayed at the Clan Hotel for 3 nights. We had a very pleasant stay overall, enjoying the unique and distinct set-up of a quirky, and inviting place to base ourselves in Singapore. It was a hop-skip-and-jump from Marina Bay, and convenient for the MRT, which made it accessible from the airport, and easy to get around the island. The room was very modern, and the shower in particular, was exceptional. It was a hub of excitement for businesses in the area, and was in close proximity to a number of cafes, bars and restaurants, as well as a good starting point for exploring Chinatown. On the flip-side, the room was a bit pokey, and the view from our room was only average, which was not the fault of the hotel, it was just surrounded by taller buildings and a concrete jungle! We didn't sample the food, but it looked pleasant, and the restaurant area was pleasantly located a few floors up, with an appealing decor. The check in and out process was painless, and the staff were all helpful where necessary. The gym was ample, with modern equipment and huge windows to stare out onto the metropolis. The infinity pool was great, although the limited loungers filled up quickly, and it wasn't that conducive to lap swimming, unless you got there early. The big question is... Would we stay there again? The honest answer is "maybe!" It was expensive, but convenient... We'll see what we find next time we head to Singapore!
