Before I say anything the staff must be commended friendly, informative and attentive they were gracious from start to finish.

The hotel itself is right in China Town so great for a base in Singapore most things were in walking distance of half an hour walk or there are plenty of public transport options

The rooms themselves I have mixed emotions about our room wasnt what I would say as the cleanest and needed a bit of tlc areas looked like they had been slapdash renovated. The amenities in the room include

TV
Hairdryer
Telephone
Safety deposit box
Tea and coffee (no milk take if required)
Toiletries
English sockets
Air conditioning

So the room has all the amenities you could need which was great.

The room we had was a standard twin and was quite compact so please don't expect huge rooms you are based in an older building which has been modernised but still keeps character with its shutters on the windows and external facade.

The towels were changed daily but the actual cleaning of the room was a tad lack luster in my opinion

Overall a good hotel for a base and as I said the staff make the hotel so I would return just for the great customer service

Room is smaller than expected although true to pictures.
The front office staff were absolutely kind and friendly.

Basic toiletries are provided in a pouch; shampoo, bathing soap, sanitary bag, toothbrush set, shaving kit, slippers, hairdryer etc.
Two towels per set, consisting of a large and small one.
Water kettle is provided, along with coffee and tea.

Windows can be opened.
Surrounding is amazing as there were so many food options.
Walking distance to Chinatown MRT & Chinatown Point.
Recommended restaurant: 东方美食

Some room for improvement:
The mini fridge is not very cold.
Cleanliness could be better as there are a couple small ants on the table, bedside tables were a little dusty.

Overall, very happy with the stay due to the convenience and basic comfort for the price paid. Would be keen to try the larger room types in the future.

This boutique hotel is conveniently located a stone’s throw away from Chinatown MRT, just walk past a row of shophouses and you’ll see the distinct black-and-white 3-storey shophouse that has been converted into Hotel Mono.

The room is surprisingly spacious for a shophouse boutique hotel and very clean. Every furniture is only in black and white colors. Unique monotone. We have two comfortable queen beds with four pillows on each bed, a sofa bed, a fixed long table to the wall that can seat two persons. There is also a proper wardrobe for us to hang our clothes and a side bench to put our bags and luggage. The bathroom is not big but sufficient, and we love the scent of the body wash and shampoo. The bath towels are also soft and fluffy.

This hotel doesn’t have the luxury of swimming pool, gym or restaurant/cafe but it’s good enough for a short staycation. Finding food is not a problem as there are a lot of eateries and restaurants in the area, and you can also walk over to Chinatown Point and People’s Park Complex for a great variety of food.

Will we be back to Hotel Mono? Most probably and this time we may try the loft room with the loft bed, and when dining out is allowed again.

Thank you Spencer and Team for making our style a pleasant one. We truly appreciate your hospitality and for making us feel welcomed.

Spencer was really friendly and the conversations we had with him was lax, casual and as if talking to a good friend. He made the experience a whole lot more enjoyable by recommending what to eat around there and of course with his jokes along the way to brighten the conversation.

The room was cleaned and well maintained, with a unique touch of a monochromatic theme to really stand out from your usual hotel room. although the TV does not have a HDMI input for our movie night, we ended watching channels such as HBO, Fox Movies and Chinese classics.

Price was also very reasonable given the location; we were surrounded by a food haven and a few minutes walk from Chinatown Point / Chinatown Complex.

Overall, it was a wonderful stay this National Day weekend! Thank you team once again .

Terrible customer service. Towel has a bit of temp hair dye and we told them it can be washed out. However, they wanted to charge us $50SG, $50?!!! for an old used towel. After much back and forth as they were unwilling to at least clean it first to prove we’re right, we took it to the laundry washer and cleaned out the stain for 7SG$. We asked for additional towel and they (Connie) wanted to charge us $20 for it; they are nickel and dime-ing for everything. After talking to another front desk Jeremy, he told us we can exchange for new towels as they keep a tally of 4 towels/room, which Connie never mentioned. All she wanted to do was charge us for anything. Connie can use better customer service training and at least try to help instead of charging us for anything she can. Do not recommend EVER.
Received one vanity kit for the 6 days there.
It’s raining and we asked for a loaner umbrella but was told they don’t provide such. The following sunny day, a whole stack of loaner umbrellas sat in front of the lobby. Apparently they do offer but told us they don’t?!
The wall is thin so you can hear everything from the streets to outside our door, trash truck crushing noise and other guests talking outside of our room.
Guest visitors must register. Checked and other hotels didn’t require such.
Room has ants that invaded our food. This is by far the worst hotel we’ve stayed in. Never again.

Nothing negative , nothing really great to say about this hotel. Minimalist style hotel. I will say the photos on Hotels.com are not reflective of the actual room I booked , and was slightly disappointed, however I would say spend a $50-75 more a night and upgrade yourself to a much better hotel. The pricing of this hotel does not match the property.

I wouldn't recommend and will not be coming back if they are not going to improve on their sound proof problem. my friends and I are having problem sleeping because the room above is moving around and we can hear their foot steps loud and clearly at 350am to 430am(the time when I m typing this review, Im not sure whether they stop or not). my friend called the front desk 3 times and they did do their part as we noticed after the call the noise stopped for A WHILE. Then, it's back! If I can't even sleep or rest in a hotel, I think it failed its purpose as a hotel. So as a self reminder NEVER book this hotel ever again. I really wanna go home 😭

Great location and single room adequate for 2/3 nights stay. Front of house staff brilliant - couldn't have done more to make me welcome and sort out any queries. Recommend this hotel - ideal for a short stopover - any longer be probably be best to upgrade to a larger room.

I have prepared myself after reading some of the reviews here and I’m totally agreed with them.

Because it is a boutique hotel converted from an old shophouses, so the sound barrier wasn’t good enough. You could hear people walking pass your door outside, people closing their door and people speaking near your room.

I got my small room that situated in the middle of the hotel, which has a window but not looking outside. Those who familiar with old houses would know that’s a airy space in the centre of every old houses. So you could hear the raindrop when it get heavy.

Other than the noise, I could say it is still a comfortable stay and the staffs were very friendly here.

I booked this hotel for the location I wanted to be in China town and this hotel is, the adjacent streets are full of the shops I expected medicines, souvenirs and restaurants, we walked say 15 mins away from the tourist streets and found lots of restaurants and cool bars nearby there are 2 hawker markets with great food approx 10 mins away from the hotel. The hotel looked really cool in the pictures but its really quite tired and basic, our bathroom was a strange one, the shower door opened outwards but almost hit the toilet and there was a window within the shower also it was quite damp smelling. The bed was really comfortable and the AC worked well the location was great I just felt overpriced for what it was.

Hi, In the room where I was staying, there were two larger beds and then there was also a sofa that you could unfold into a bed. The description is right! Hope this helped!

Hi, are child cots available?
Answer from Shanaka Cooray

Hi. Cots are available free of charge. However we found the rooms smaller than usual and a cot makes the movable space even more cramped. This means that if you have luggage to store as well, it becomes quite uncomfortable to move around. So make sure you ask for the squire foot area of the relevant room since as stated on my original review the photos do make the rooms look bigger then they really are Having said that Hotel Mono does have some good positives as well, its close to Chinatown and the MRT and is clean Good luck with your choice. Best regards S

Hi Teresa, there's a tinted glass door between bedroom and bathroom but sneaking in and out is possible. The transparent door is the one between the shower and the toilet, and no curtain. Hope this helps.
