This hotel is very centrally-located right in Singapore's Chinatown, less than one block from the Chinatown MRT station. My room was small, but quiet and clean. The front desk staff was super helpful with recommendations and directions. Chinatown Food Street is just two or three blocks away. Maxwell Food Court is about a 7-minute walk. There are lots of interesting sights within walking distance, including Chinatown, and the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum (yup, they've got one of Buddha's teeth there). Super easy to get from hotel to pretty much anywhere else in Singapore, due to clean, efficient MRT system (with maps and announcements in English).

Compact, Clean, Bright, Good Value for Money and in Good Location.

Room is small (with small window) as expected but clean and adequate. Good to use as base to explore the city.

Stayed for 2 nights before Christmas in Small Double Room type.

DO NOT BELIEVE ALL PICTURES SHOWN in TripAdvisor/Mono's official website/agoda/expedia, etc. THEY ARE ALL FAKE and the real environment is much more worse than those pictures. We felt like we were being cheated. We were given a room that wasn't like any of those we saw on the web - much more tiny space which you cannot even put your suitcases on the floor, only one tiny window with some yellow stains, unpleasant smells in the room, walls with stains and there are some black ants walking around on the table (which some of the travelers also mentioned the same issues below). We booked this hotel for 3 nights via expedia so we asked them to refund right away but the Hotel Manager insisted us to pay at least 1 night. The Manager there was very unfriendly and questioned me about the ants issues (I had a video proof). Staff there were very unhelpful especially after when they found out we asked for refunds. They know what their issues are but don't even bother to improve the hotel and its services.

Me and my partner have blacklisted this hotel forever and won't come back again! Won't recommend any friends staying at this place!

I booked this hotel after seeing a positive review in the Sydney Morning Herald. It didn't disappoint. The room is micro, with all that's needed for a good night's sleep in a clean, safe, friendly and affordable establishment after long days of visiting this most fascinating neighbourhood. The room had all the amenities I needed for a 4 night stay. The Chinatown MRT is just around the corner--a big plus! I needed a 3am wakeup call and received it. The staff is helpful and accommodating. Find the People's Park Food Centre and The Chinatown Heritage Centre. Shame there is no ice machine available.

Singapore is an expensive place to visit and we didn't stay very long as it was part of our transfer back home. But we stayed one night at this cute place in Chinatown using it as a base for us to drop our bags and explore the main attractions. There is a tube station only a few minutes walk away which we used to allow us to get to marina bay sands and gardens by the bay. It's pretty cheap considering how much taxis can be so I recommend using it. If you want to see Chinatown, well you don't have to go far. There are many restaurants on the street itself but we didn't visit any.

The hotel itself is, as it's name suggests, black and white themed. I thought it was quite cool and smart actually. The bedroom felt a little cramped admittedly but we didn't mind as we weren't in there very long. The bathroom was nicely designed. Check in and check out was really easy. Air con didn't seem to want to turn off so it was quite cold in the morning.

Otherwise, all good and convenient. Took about 20-30 minutes to reach from airport by taxi. It'll cost you around $20 with Uber as long as there is so surge charge.

This is a fairly new boutique hotel in Chinatown, composed of a row of shophouses. I stay in Chinatown frequently on business but this was the first time I've stayed here.

The location is quite central, not too far from the business district, and a fun area if you're a tourist. There are innumerable places to eat close by.

Check in was fairly efficient, although the clerk continued his cellphone conversation while I was checking in. Note that the hotel does not take all credit cards (I had guaranteed the reservation on bookingdotcom using Amex which I use for business... but had to pay with a different card). Check out was very fast as everything is prepaid.

The most striking thing about the hotel is the minimalist black and (mostly) white decor; it looks clean, fresh, and welcoming - sort of institutional-chic, and a reference to the black-and-white colonial style of old Singapore building.

My room was a reasonable size for a boutique hotel. There was a small desk, a kettle, a well-thought out and attractive shower room (with good water pressure) and toilet, some storage space, and good lighting. Washing amenities come in a full set of everything, every day, which I guess is nice if a bit wasteful. The room looked out onto an interior airwell, so no view, but was very quiet which suited me. The free internet worked well and there's no limit on the number of devices. The bed was firm and the bedding simple.

My only minor gripe was that, travelling for business, I need to get shirts laundered daily. There's no laundry service advertised, but when I asked, I was told I could get laundry done if I handed items in before 6am, for next day delivery... i.e. not very convenient even by boutique hotel standards!

It was about the right level of accommodation and service at the price point, and while I wouldn't rave about it, equally I wouldn't complain if I needed to stay again.

My husband, son (6) and I spent two nights at Hotel Mono. It is a fabulous location - right in the heart of Chinatown and close to the MRT.
I loved the clean lines of the hotel with minimalist styling - it is easily one of the coolest places I have ever stayed.
The staff were very friendly and gave good advice about local restaurants and attractions.
Unfortunately our room was very noisy. We were on the second floor near the elevator, facing the street. There is no carpet on the floors so each night it sounded like a heard of elephants was trampling on our ceiling as the guests above us pottered around their room. We could hear every person coming in and out of the elevator on our floor and worst of all was the street noise - especially the smashing of bottles from the bar down the street being collected at 3am each morning.

Hotel Mono is recently renovated hotel strategically located in the centre of Chinatown. Hotel is with walking distance to MRT station and also local sightseing in Chinatown and places to eat. Room itself was clan and had all nessesary for our stay. Size of the room can be on the small side but I think it is common for Singapore. Service was very polite and attentive.

Overall we have enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

Pros: I love the monochrome. We could check-in early at 1PM as soon as the room is available. The staff is friendly and pretty instructive. It's about 2 minutes walk to Chinatown MRT to go basically anywhere. Also close to Pagoda street with all the errand shopping and souvenirs and good food to enjoy.
Cons: Not soundproof. I can hear everything outside of the room if anyone passing by. The toilet ain't either. If you go pooping or peeing or showering, everyone in the bedroom will hear it. The photographs to promote the hotel were a bit over the top compared to the reality. I added note twice before arrival about the specific room with big windows but given the room with one single window with no view. You might find yourself a bit lost at first cuz the walkway and corridor to me is like a maze.

Hi, In the room where I was staying, there were two larger beds and then there was also a sofa that you could unfold into a bed. The description is right! Hope this helped!

Hi, are child cots available?
Answer from Shanaka Cooray

Hi. Cots are available free of charge. However we found the rooms smaller than usual and a cot makes the movable space even more cramped. This means that if you have luggage to store as well, it becomes quite uncomfortable to move around. So make sure you ask for the squire foot area of the relevant room since as stated on my original review the photos do make the rooms look bigger then they really are Having said that Hotel Mono does have some good positives as well, its close to Chinatown and the MRT and is clean Good luck with your choice. Best regards S

Hi Teresa, there's a tinted glass door between bedroom and bathroom but sneaking in and out is possible. The transparent door is the one between the shower and the toilet, and no curtain. Hope this helps.
