Once you enter the room, you are hit with a very nasty and damp smell of old furniture and fungus. The carpeted floor is dark and dirty - seems like it hasn't been washed since the the 50s. The ceiling fan is hard to switch on and off. There are no mineral water, slippers, and refrigerator. The towels are thin and stained. The blankets are even thinner and the bedsheets have bed bugs all over. There is no divider for the shower so when you enter the bathroom, you instantly step on the wet tiled floors. It's uncomfortable especially if you just want to use the toilet or sink. The engineering is bad as well. The bathroom door has a handle outside but it pushes in. From the inside, there is no handle so you need to pull on the door lock instead. The TV is old and the remote doesn't work. On our first night, the bedsheets were still wet as if it wasn't laundered completely. They gave us new blankets but by the third night they stopped setting them up on our beds (they just folded them and left them on the beds). Also, by the third night at around 1AM, my brother swears he saw a ghost of an old and skinny man wearing some traditional robe at the edge of our beds. The hotel is beside a temple so we think it might be a ghost of one of the monks there. We started praying every night afterwards. The room has bad feng shui as well. There's a mirror facing the foot of the bed. We had to cover it with a towel ever since then. We are never coming back here again. It's better to spend a few more dollars to get some decent amenities, good hygiene and ghost-free accomodation.

Had to stay here for one night as unable to get affordable rooms anywhere else - it was a last minute booking on late notice. There were cockroaches in the bathroom, the breakfast was awful and very limited choice. Check in woman took absolutely ages for no reason .... just very slow service and hotel was dirty. Thank god we only had to stay one night ! You also have to leave your room keys with check in Everytime you leave which is quite annoying. Would not recommend this hotel, you can find better!

I first stayed at the SEA Hotel back in 2014 as it was recommended by my aunt and uncle who always stay here when in Singapore. I love the place. It’s old and rustic (a throwback to another time) but for $100 SGD a night with a fabulous vegetarian buffet breakfast included (Kwan Im restaurant) and prime location in Bugis you couldn’t ask for anything more. Also when booking the staff are excellent in replying to queries and give very detailed information about getting to the hotel and airport transport options and nearby attractions. Free wifi was included and it was fast and reliable. The staff on the front desk were friendly especially the girl who checked me in. Bugis+ shopping mall (10 levels with cinemas, food/retail options galore and taxi rank) is less than 5 mins walk. I use this as a taxi pick up/drop off point to various attractions from the hotel. Bugis MRT Station is 5-10 mins walk and is on the airport line (10th station from the airport, with 1 change at Tanah Merah, cost only SGD 2.50) The Kwan Im Temple is right next door and worth checking out (it gets very busy with local worshippers). Directly outside is a pedestrian mall with a flurry of activity with market stalls and street vendors. The hotel is simple and rooms unadorned with only the basics but it’s all there and excellent value for money. They do request you leave your key if you go out and recollect (24 hour reception) but I conveniently forgot to do this most of the time and it was never a problem. Oh and don’t even think about bringing durians to the hotel!

I booked a family room for 5 days. I would rate the hotel zero on all parameters apart from location- that too there are many hotels nearby. No slippers, aircon leaking, torn towels, 14 inch CRT TV, Aircon without remote and worst staff takes no responsibly. I stayed in 302 and the aircon on this room had water drops falling on it from the aircon above it (outside of window). They couldn’t fix the issue and simply decided not to rent the room above till my stay and for sure the next guest in that room would same experience till he complains. They do not provide duplicate keys making it messy when staying with kids. The old lady mentioned in the other reviews is really rude and I had to complain about her to management to get her smile or speak politely. Almost all staff including house keeping are outsourced who come for specific hours. So if you need something beyond their timetable- forget it. Owners are not interested to invest a penny more and are just taking out money by renting whatever is there till the building crumbles of its age. I would not recommend it even for backpackers.

This hotel located in very good location. Next to Kwan Im Temple. Very easy to find food. Albert food court and many more. But it's a little bit hassle if you want to take a taxi. You should walk to main road because vehicles can not access this hotel. The staffs especially at the front desk are very very kindly and helpfull. Thanks to Ms.Jenny and Ms.Man Li. Minus : very very slippery bathroom floor especially when wet. No compliment bottle water, no hair dryer. No slipper. Very2 small pressure of hot water. But overall...nice place lah

Very old hotel, but reasonably clean. Fast check-in, you must pay upfront for minimum one night. Clean bed sheet, noisy aircon (very old window type) but cold enough, very old & clean bath room without shower partition, hot water kettle & cheap coffee sachet available. This is the kind of hotel room you may see in 1970s movies. I like it somehow it reminds me of those good old days, when I visited Singapore as a small kid. Located beside Kwan Im Temple, in walking distance to Bugis Junction, and opposite of famous Albert Center eating place. You can walk also to Orchard road (maybe not close enough but walking in Singapore is enjoyable) I am not sure if this one is cheap, many modern budget hotel now arise in Singapore.

One of the best location in bugis area. I've been here 6x and i love staying this place. MRT and bus stop is few meters away from the hotel. Temples and night market is just outside the hotel once you steep out..

The location is very nice because it's just a walking distance from Bugis MRT. There are many eateries around the hotel, too. The hotel accommodation already comes with a daily breakfast. You can choose either Continental or Vegetarian. The triple room is bigger enough for us (family) considering it's a budget hotel. The staffs are friendly, too. The cons that I think of is the WiFi is very costly. How I wish the WiFi is free but nevertheless, the WiFi speed is quite good.

This is my usual accommodation in Singapore because of its ideal location in Bugis on a pedestrian-only section of Waterloo St. and its budget pricing (for the location). But the hotel is a throwback to a different era and seems to be slowly fading. The pros: within easy walking distance of two MRT stations, Bugis Junction and other shopping centers, and a good Albert hawker center. And I've walked to the National Museum, National Gallery, Singapore Art Museum, and National Library within 20 minutes. In the other direction, Little India and the Arab quarter are also within walking distance. Nearby bus lines will take you to Orchard Road or Chinatown. The cons: the hotel dates from the 1950s and, despite some renovations and cleanliness, shows its age -- occasional plumbing, TV, and electrical problems, and the elevator is rickety. A meager breakfast is included -- Chinese noodles, steamed bun, and fried rice and one cup of tea can be filling, but the continental alternative is just toast, small glass of juice, and a single cup of coffee. The hotel still doesn't accept credit cards, so be prepared to pay a bill of hundreds of dollars in Singapore dollars only. Wi Fi by the hour is extra and expensive, so be forewarned.
