Having visited this hotel a number of times in the past, the ability to see that this facility has suffered the effects of the Covid lockdown in NOTICABLE and SAD. The staff continue to deliver excellent service, however, maintains of the rooms on the Excelsior side appear to be non-existent. Our bed - had a broken leg, causing the head portion to dip downwards. The shower - had many issues such as the hot water tap never really got HOT (we reported this issue and yet nothing changed in the 5 days that we stayed here). The bathroom facility was VERY pokey! and as for the hairdryer - overheats within 45 seconds (yes, I timed it), and would take roughly 5 minutes to cool down and work for another 45 seconds. The room itself is an acceptable size, just requires a little T L C. The pricing for the location and breakfast - (adequate) included is at an acceptable rate. If the hotel is serious about improving its customer satisfaction, then it needs to fix the bathroom situation and furthermore look at the layout of the breakfast room, which is not conducive around the area where you toast your bread.…
I stayed for 3 days from February 1st~4th. I arrived in Singapore at late dawn and chenked in as the last guest, so I was lived to the remaining room because there was only one room left. I reserved a double bed, but we stayed in a twin bed room, so we asked to change it to a double bed the next day, and the staff kindly changed it to an upgraded room. They upgraded it to the room of Marina Bay Sand view, and they always responded kindly even though I requested it two or three times. I had great time for 3 days thanks to the good view, good facilities, and frendly staffs. If I visit Singapore again, I'll stay at the Peninsula Excelsior Hotel :)
Now let's start with the positives great central location and breakfast was plentiful staff very friendly except one female reception staff. The negatives not 4 star at all have stayed in many hotels the superior room is far from superior tired, drab fittings, shower curtain badly stained tiling in bathroom.needs looking at.mediocre tv with one English channel that only plays first dates on the evening no mirror in lounge area to straighten hair and apply make up.lack lustre hotel have stopped in better 3 stars management need to give their heads a wobble and address the decoration we stopped on 8th floor.pictures showing stained table lamp and standard lamp stained shower curtain along with door and poor tiling in bathroom.
We arrived early on the 11th January got a taxi from the airport. Downstairs entrance then a lift up to the main lobby this was now 0645. I asked if anyway we could check in early and would be willing to pay. The guy said come back at 1000 and we should be able to check you in. We arrived back at 1030 and our room was ready such a great service. We had room 1404 which was a large room with 2 huge windows overlooking the city. The bathroom had large walk in shower and a separate bath. The position is superb 10 minute walk to boat quay and Clarke quay. China town was about 5 minutes more. We walked to little India which was about 20 minutes walk. We also used the metro which was super efficient used it to get to Sentosa. Raffles was literally around the corner and I lots of eating places all around the hotel. It was a great 4 nights stay and the staff were super friendly and very efficient. Thank you once again. This hotel is great, firstly it’s in a superb location close to all attractions near Clarke Quay and very close to MRT. All staff are excellent and helpful - very friendly. The gym is good and the two pools are very clean and decent size. Rooms comfortable and decent size with excellent bathrooms and comfy beds! Good price too via Expedia (what more can you ask for)
Check in on 26 Dec'22 - 01 Jan'23 and stay for 12 room nights. Uncle at the check in counter was helpfull and then ww can stay at the room that view the MBS ... Gratefull because we can see the gorgeous fireworks just from the our room window dan we enjoy the moments.
This hotel is in desperate need of a renovation (or just knock it down and start again). I’d read some bad reviews, but decided to book a higher room type (Premier Room), in the hope that the reviews were representative of the cheaper room types. Boy, was I mistaken. Stepping out of the elevator, it was very clear that we’d made the wrong decision in booking this hotel. The corridors are dark and dingy, the carpet is worn, and the air inside the hotel is musty and stale. We found our room on the 15th floor of the “Peninsula Tower”. This would seem to be the older of the two towers. Not that we got to see inside the “Excelsior Tower”, but it certainly looked to be newer from the outside. Aside from the view out the window (of Marina Bay Sands, no less), there was nothing redeeming about the room. The worn carpets in the room, matched those in the corridor. The curtains were dusty, and the wallpaper was incredibly grubby (and peeling in places). The dark wooden furniture was chipped, and there was an odd smell in the room, which we couldn’t quite put our finger on, at first. Due to an early arrival, we’d left our baggage with the concierge, which we were told would be delivered to our room. The phone in our room rang twice, but each time we answered, we couldn’t hear anyone on the other end. After being in our room for close to an hour after check-in, our bags still hadn’t arrived, so I went down to the concierge to see what was happening. They were the ones who had tried to call. I told them our phone was broken, so they said they’d send someone to look into it. While waiting for a maintenance person to come check out the phone, we decided to put some drinks and snacks that we’d bought earlier, into the fridge. It was quite clear though, that the fridge wasn’t working either. I mentioned this when maintenance came to replace the phone, and he had a look at it. He confirmed that the fridge wasn’t working, and said he’d ask housekeeping to sort a replacement. This was delivered shortly after. Shortly afterwards, we went out for dinner. Upon returning to our room for an early night, it appeared that we were seemingly hosting an amateur soccer match. At least, it sounded like we were. Directly outside our window, on the rooftop of the neighbouring building, was a soccer pitch. Throughout our stay, many matches were played, and it appears as though there is no soundproofing on the windows, as we could clearly hear every thud (of the ball being kicked), every cheer, and every play-directive between team mates. This often continued late into the evening. The next morning, we finally worked out what the smell was in the room. In the shower, was black mould! Disgusting! My partner had complained of a headache not long after we entered the room, and this would seem to be the reason. Whenever we left the room, the headache disappeared, only to return once we got back to the room. Thankfully, after mentioning this to the staff at reception (with photo evidence), they said they would have housekeeping look into it. Our two night stay came to an end, and I must admit, I was very glad to leave. The bed was uncomfortable, the towels were thin and worn, not to mention all of the issues we had above. Please understand, I very rarely, if ever, complain. It takes a lot for me to do so, but this was it. The black mould in the bathroom is inexcusable. 5 nights earlier, we’d stayed at The Clan Hotel, which was $60 a night cheaper, and practically brand new (and it was a stunning property). It was the polar opposite of our stay at Peninsula Excelsior. I’m sorry, but I would truly hesitate recommending this hotel to anyone.…
This hotel located in the center of the city, within walking distance to the subway station of "City Hall" , 1.4km to Bugis Street, 1.3km to Chinatown and 3 stops away from Orchard Road. There is a big shopping mall "Funan“ in the corner with many restuarants and a big foodcourt in the basement. We loved particularly the local restuarants along South Bridge Rd, must try their spicy crab, Our room is reasonably big and bed was comfy. Front desk staff are so friendly and professional , I must take the chance here to thank Miza, she's the manager of Housekeeping dept, she helped me to find the items I've left behind and sent them back to me, Highly recomended and would definitely stay again.
My first time stay here. This is old hotel bul well maintained. Ask for room 1818 like i did and you'll get the best view of MBS.. Price is reasonable, location just beside Funan Mall and bear City Hall MRT. Breakfast is tasteless unfortunately :( But overall welldone!!
First thing, Singapore is crazy expensive. I had a good deal, about US$1000 for six nights with breakfast, that is cheap for a 4* hotel in Singapore. Great location, and do use the cheap MRT (subway, underground train) to get to places. It is excellent and cheap. The hotel is very good. Iiked the breakfast, but the bacon was grilled until it was like a biscuit. Otherwise very good. Lovely large room. Excellent bed, one of the best I have ever slept in. Housekeeping staff are lovely (Vietnamese), front desk staff less so. A good hotel, I will recommend.
