We had a really great experience at Hotel Gen. The staff was so friendly and always went above and beyond (they especially went out of their way to make my 5-year old son feel special). We were on the 7th floor, and while the view wasn't spectacular (view of the vacant lot across the street), we enjoyed watching the people...

Having visited several hotels over the last years but never found a hotel with so many flaws as this one. It is cheap but there are a few things that should be OK, such as the telephone and thetelly are two of the things which have to work. Stay away from this hotel if you can.

My husband and I came to this hotel with great trepidation because of the poor ratings given to it by the reviews we read on tripadvisor. This is what has saved us from being disgruntled and upset. It has turned out so far, after one night's sleep and one breakfast, to be tolerable if one keeps an attitude of little...

Hotel Gen is under the guise of a friendly, fashionable and tourist friendly hotel when in reality, they barely speak English, are located in a filthy part of the city and have no sense of business integrity. The Ugly - My credit card number was not only written down when the staff on duty claimed their system was down -...

Arrived at 0600 hrs following an overnight flight. No check in until 3pm and actually, no booking. Apparently booking cancelled 2 days earlier and motel fully booked out for the next 3 days Reception staff were rude and initially aggressive then completely ignored us and offered no help at all. Motel appeared overrun by school children. Found a ( much...

I enjoyed staying here, it was perfectly comfortable in a good location. The main square and downtown is a 15-20 min walk away. The kitchen though is not stocked - it has no utensils or crockery so it can't really be used. I stayed in a twin share & the room was small & it was a tight squeeze to...

Make sure to request a kitchen. The first two rooms we looked at were small, but the third was a two bedroom, two bathroom suite with a full kitchen (including oven). Other reviews said there were not any dishes, but we had a full complement of pots, plates, cups, etc. We travel quite a bit, so this was a big...

This hotel is beautiful, but it has a lot of downfalls. First of all, I stayed in this hotel for a whole week while on business and I was unable to get hardly any sleep at all. There are dogs across the street that bark relentlessly at all hours every time something loud goes down the street. The hotel is...

We booked this hotel online from Sydney Airport 20mins prior to take-off and we were not disappointed! On arrival at Santiago we requested the driver take us to "Hotel Gen" on Portugal Avenue. He knew the street, but seemed puzzled by the name of the Hotel. Future travellers should remember to say "Hotel Hen" and it won't be such a...

After passing numerous shady looking hotels en route to Hotel Gen, the condition of Hotel Gen was a pleasant relief. However, although it was (by far) the most modernized hotel in the immediate area, it can (and should) be updated to warrant a higher rating and review. Overall, stay here if you're in the area and need a safe and...
