Nice spot to stay super close to Plaza Foche. The owners despite not speaking English were very friendly, helpful and kind. They tried really hard to communicate and assist where necessary. The internet here is top notch - super fast and available everywhere! Location is perfect, two blocks from Plaza Foch, restaurants, shops, ATMs, information centre etc. The rooms are... More

Although this hostel has few amenities it has many other things. Good location convenient to everything, adequate breakfast, very friendly staff, clean, great WiFi, private bath and plenty of hot water. Currently only $30 per night. Can't find a much better value.

Arupo is in a part of Quito where it has lots of competition, so no question the price is right. That having been said, be sure what you are willing to compromise. This is probably a good hotel for backpackers and budget travelers. Not so great for a couple in their 70s who want basic amenities and some peace and... More

I stayed here when I first arrived in Quito near the end of January and then intermittently during my travels within Ecuador (having to transfer through Quito to other destinations). "Feels like home" could not be a more accurate statement about Hostal El Arupo. I already miss the it! My first room was immaculate, spacious yet cozy; however, it was... More

We stayed here for Xmas for two nights, then went back for another two nights after visiting the Amazon. The couple very kindly kept our suitcases. The rooms were very clean and tidy. We stayed in two rooms at the back, so it was quite. Breakfast was basic, but good. The hostel was also in a very good location for... More

This was a nice hostel in a good location for walking around Quito. The room was comparatively large as was the bathroom. We were able to use the facilities in the kitchen, (fridge to store stuff, microwave, etc.) Very homey and the staff very friendly. We had been staying at the one across the street, but they couldn't extend our... More

I arrived at 2am to a friendly hostelier and a clean, cozy room. The cute couple who runs it are both very kind individuals, always quick to help you with something. The atmosphere is muy tranquilo. When I played my guitar in the dining/common room area, everybody was happy to have music while they ate or checked emails no matter... More

There are 2 Arupos a couple of streets apart so make sure you go to the right one. Our taxi dropped us at the wrong one but the staff came and collected us within minutes. They are very helpful but don't speak much English so communication can be tricky if you don't have much Spanish. The room was clean and... More

I cannot say enough good things about arupo. It is exactly what I was looking for - great both rooms and bathrooms (and great showers), spotlessly clean, great location a minute walk from the lively la fosch where the tours leave from too, reasonable, with decent/simple breakfast and a kitchen for tea etc. The staff is really nice and kept...
