I stayed here with my group of students for a few nights before a biology field course. For the price the hostal is excellent-- clean, safe, helpful, friendly staff, and perfect location (easy walk to Old Town). The view from the rooftop is spectacular. Also not loud at night, which was good for our group. Would definitely recommend this place,...

If you´re tired of party hostels noise and atmosphere and are looking for a laid-back place to regenerate, where you won´t be surrounded by teenagers - Guayunga is your place to be. You can chill on the roof terrace with an amazing view, enjoy a beer and talk to like-minded travelers. The rooms are cozy and clean, there´s hot water...

showers, beds are very clean; everybody's very helpful, friendly and polite, the view of the terraces is AMAZING (definitely a reason to stay here); breakfast included, but it's really not a lot. the hostel is very central and you have a lot of bus stops nearby.

After spending 8 months in Ecuador, this hostel is always my go-to when I visit Quito. The rooftop terrace has an amazing view of Old Town, breakfast and coffee is delicious, and there are really cool paintings all over the place. The family is incredibly nice and helps you with whatever you need. Rooms are simple, but worth the value,...

We spent two weeks in this hostal. Is really near of the city center, just ten minuts walking. The hostal has a terrace where you can see the cityscape of Quito, in there it's served the food, that's is very yummy. The family that runs the hostel is very nice and always ready to lend a hand.

Stayed here with a large group. Incredible service. They cooked us dinners, brought in Ecuadorian dancers for a cultural show one evening and took us on tours. We enjoyed wine by the fire at night on the rooftop terrace. Pretty cold at night and they brought me extra blankets. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

I've stayed twice here, in 2014 and again May 2016. By far the best hostel, in all respects, I've stayed at in Quito. Quiet, beautiful, top-notch free breakfast, *amazing* terrace, and the most friendly, available, and sensible family (and their awesome staff). Even without the terrace ;) I'd come again in a heartbeat.

Nice budget hostel with great views of the city, a bit quiet than its neighbor hostel and cheaper. Three computers you can use and big screen tv for watching movies. You can cook but they say you have to pay, i havent tried it. Local people run the place, dont expect too much attention! Tip: dont be the first to...

Across the street from Secret Garden lies Guayunga Hostal. Guayunga has much the same amenities as its neighbour across the street but was very quiet when I went - REALLY quiet - which was actually great as I needed the sleep after my return from the jungle! On the plus side, the bathrooms were clean and well maintained, the rooftop...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Guayunga hostel! Guayunga opened its doors 30 years ago, starting as a small guesthouse. In 2010, a restoration project was in place to convert the guesthouse into a Hostel. Guayunga hostel is strategically located at the heart of the historical Quito. Quito was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the 1970s for having the best preserved and least altered historic center in Latin America. Becerra Garzón’s family, the founders of Guayunga Hostel started off with the dream of creating a place where travelers from all over the world would feel welcome and could interact. Over the years, they have learned more about the wishes and desires of the international traveler, which of course is more than just a bed and a shower. ... more   less
