Great hostel with beautiful views, really safe/ secure and fab communal atmosphere as everyone eats dinner together. Best part is the roof terrace which was so lovely to chill out on. Comfy beds, but one thing is that even though we booked well in advance, when my friend and I arrived they split us up into different dorm rooms which...

When I first visited, I was not used to the kind of place as I never had to share a room with someone I don't know... But this ended up being one of my favorite places in my country!!! You can share so much with different people from other cultures, it's amazing!!! I love it, and the place is confortable...

This is a nice hostel - good rooftop area and they offer a different dinner each night for $5 per person. The staff are friendly and helpful and it is in a good location to explore from. The first night we stayed we were placed in room A2 which is the first room when entering the hostel. As a result...

Its a very nice hostel, great place to meet other travellers and in the beautyful old town. It is from walking distance of the cultural monuments of the old town. They have an excellent taxiservice, and great advice.

Wifi is absolutely awful. When you are able to actually load a page it is painstakingly slow. They only have a router on the terrace and then the 3rd floor - this means no wifi in rooms or other floors unless you're next to the router, even then it barely works. If you need to do research for your trip...

This was centrally located to everything you would need and want as a tourist. The market (which had cheap and filling meals), the Cathedral, and the balcony with amazing views of the city! Breakfast was available (extra charge) but worth it and again, the view is what you'd be looking at over your meal. There was free water, coffee, tea...

We stayed at the secret garden in Quito on 3 separate occasions whilst exploring Ecuador in between trips to the Galápagos Islands, Cotopaxi Volcano and the Amazon. The hostel is organised and welcoming and usually full of travellers (generally in their 20s and 30s) either working their way south through South America or north through Central America. It has a...

The Secret Garden in Quito was a nice hostel in downtown Quito. Our room with an inbuilt bathroom was clean, although the shower with onbuilt warmer system with open electric cables was primitive. The rooftop bar and the restaurant with beautiful views overlooking Quito was nice .The free wifi connection speed was average.

The toilets are dirty, so is the shower. The rooms are noisy and the staff start their cleaning work at 7am. The food is good and cheap, so that's a plus. At the highest floor you can enjoy the view with a nice beer. If you don't like loud backpackers, don't come here! If you are looking for company, do...

Really enjoyed staying here and ended up staying 3 different times on my various visits to Quito. Very sociable with a brilliant terrace. Lovely food. Really useful to have a tour agency on the ground floor. Only one negative is you may have to go to another floor to find a hot shower.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Secret Garden Quito is a friendly Australian/Ecuadorian/French family run hostel conveniently located in a quiet, authentic cobble-stone street in central Quito. Our 'barrio', or neighbourhood, is one of the few remaining Colonial districts and even our building is protected by a United Nations World Heritage listing. With a big improvement in security in the Old Town in recent years, plus 24 hour police patrols, our neighbourhood now enjoys a level of safety and security equal to (or often better than!!) most international capital cities. But there's more!!Our beautifully restored colonial building features a rooftop terrace/restaurant/bar with breathtaking views of the historical Old Town. Feel free to browse our hostal book exchange, chat with our friendly Ecuadorian and foreign staff, check your email (free use of computer and free Wifi), or just relax listening to any of our wide selection of music. ... more   less
