This hostel is situated right in the center of the historic old town of Cuenca. The wifi works great, the showers are hot, the rooms are clean, and you can't beat the price for a private room- believe me, we tried. Edgar and his family own and run the hostel. We were very lucky to end up here. We arrived...

For the most part I liked this hostel, it's affordable and clean. However, the affordability comes at a cost. The hot water is either scalding or freezing, and changes at least 5 times per shower. The rooms on the street are loud and even after we moved rooms it wasn't much better - people were up past 1 talking and...

Stayed here 3 times over a two month period. Big, well equipped communal kitchen. Very large old spanish colonial style rooms with high ceilings. Clean place, although a bit run down in a charming way. Showers alternate hot and cold water, but for the price (I paid $9/nt), it*s a steal. Centrally located and close to several bars and restaurants....

Our first night in Cuenca was spent at the Hostal. I found the Hostal to be in need of face left. Walls were in need of paint, floors need to be replace, water temperature varys greatly. The staff were friendly. It is a good location to socialize with other travelers. We were in a double room with private washroom. The...

It was by word of mouth that I found out about that hostel existing in Cuenca. I called prior to come to make sure I have a confirmed booking. I occupied a private room with no restroom for $8.00. The staff is very friendly and the location is great. There is communal kitchen where I cooked my meals. I did...

we check in around 4 in the morning and we thought they were flexible, though we felt bad because they dont provide a key to enter to the hostel so someone has to be knocked at vey early or late to open the door. They have private, big and confy beds! with private rooms! two blocks from great Calle Larga(...

I spent a week in Cuenca at Alvano Hostal in Feb and was treated very good. I arrived from Nicaragua and brought a parasite with me which made my entire trip a waste. The one hotel boss arranged for a doctor to see me and a taxi to pick me up. The room was cheap and worth what I paid...

Spent three nights in Alvanos Hostal which was far too long, I think this place would be fine for an overnight, but nothing more. There are definitely better options in Cuenca for a few more dollars. The best thing about it is the price, $20 for a private double room with shared bathroom, towels and soap also included. The location...
