We stayed in Hotel Los Balcones in December during our brief visit to Cuenca. The hotel is conveniently located a few blocks from the main square. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable (I believe the gentleman's name was Paulo). Our room was a corner room on the second floor with a balcony. It seemed that it had been...

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in, in South America. Not only are the rooms large, but the breakfast that is included in the price is wonderful. When we were there, the buffet was overseen personally by the owner. We also tried out a few small dishes at the restaurant onsite and were very impressed. Excellent...

Had a great five night stay at this hotel in Cuenca over the holidays. Location was great in the old part of town near the main cathedral, which our room had a nice view of. Breakfast was good, as well as the Christmas dinner they hosted. Overall I loved the character of this place and found the service to be...

We stayed in the new addition the first night. It was not good. The room was very large, but we could hear the restaurant/club next door all night. The bed was squeaky as well and we did not sleep well. There were no other rooms available that evening, so we could not change rooms. If this was my only experience...

This hotel is not only located near all the sights but it is in a lovely old building that has been restored to perfection. We had room 4 on the second floor. Double windows blocked out any noise that could have come from the street. There were also shutters. The bathroom had hot water and the most amazing shower (see...

I stayed for 2 nights in this lovely, Colonial hotel. The entrance hall and the rooms are delicately decorated and styled! The staff is extremely pleasant and friendly, one feels like more than a simple guest! Breakfast ist very good with several options of fruits, bread, pancakes, eggs, cereals and and and. Squeaky wooden floors ? Yes ! I wouldn't expect less of this kind of old, incredibly charming hotel right in the middle of the old town. The exterior is cute enough, but the interior is gorgeous ! The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout, they all spoke English well enough to communicate easily. I loved the breakfast with some...

We stayed there for 2 nights. The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Cuenca's historical district. The interior is gorgeous. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We stayed five nights and Balcones was a good base for exploring Cuenca. Old, creaky, charming, and friendly. Decent but not great breakfast in a nice terrace breakfast room. The modern bathrooms are great but our room was rather cold, dark and noisy. Our room with balcony was not well insulated from the noise of the street traffic and beeping...

It is a nice building with a nice rooftop restaurant. Rooms are updated and unique. The building is located close to historic part of town.
