I only found this hostal by accident as it was not on the usual websites. There is a nice spacious feel to the place. I had a single room but with a little terrace that opened on to a very noisy street. I didn't mind the noise and when you close the shutters it isn't so bad. I felt like... More

We booked in here after spotting it while staying someplace else, had a lovely big room, owners and staff super friendly and helpful, great breakfast and great affordable prices. Ok the bathroom could do with a facelift but shower was hot and plentiful, the bathroom smelled damp and I am sure all the bathrooms are old, but for the price... More

Yet another hotel with some hidden mold problems in the wall of the bathroom. Other than that we can't really complain. We had a large room with balcony. The doors shut out enough of the street noise to sleep well.

We spent one night at the hotel and had a few problems that I think might be incidental to staying in a cheaper hotel in Ecuador. But it really was not cheaper in my opinion. We are family of 4 and it cost us $70 for the night. There is a misconception about how wonderful the city of Cuenca is,... More

I recommend Hostal Chordeleg if you are looking for a place that is inexpensive and clean. The staff is friendly and the breakfast is good. It is an older building and the rooms are simple and the bathrooms are small and has an unusual smell. However, it is clean. I walked around Cuenca to compare other hostals in this price... More

We spent 6 nights at Hostal Chordeleg over Thanksgiving week this year. I researched hotesl in Cuenca for a long time before discovering this little gem. $32 per night for a comfortable, roomy and clean room, and also a simple breakfast to start each day: eggs, croissants, coffee and fresh juice. the rooms are on 2 floors circling a courtyard... “Just ask to see the room first. Check for the obvious such as room odor, cleanliness and even pull the sheets back on one bed. Monitor the attitude of the staff. If they aren't friendly, DON'T STAY THERE. Check the bathroom for cleaniness, a quick look will do. Be very tolerant in Ecuador. But do not tolerate unfriendly staff. There are too many options in Cuenca for accomodations.”

“Get an internal room. The rooms near the street are noisy. Don't forget to ask for a discount if you stay multiple nights.”
