A lovely restored colonial home now serves as the Posada del Angel, run by the delightful Hernandez family and a handful of terrific employees. It's kind of noisy because the walls are thin and ancient floorboards creak a lot, and frankly, El Centro itself is noisy, but the place is full of charm, and the family and staff could not...

We stayed in a quad room for 2 nights with our family. The hotel is well run, has tons of character and charm, is clean and comfortable with a nice sitting/common area that is an old enclosed courtyard. The restaurant is pretty good if you are looking for decent Italian in Cuenca. We live in Cuenca now and this is...

We stayed here for two nights. We were warmly welcomed and the staff were charming and helpful. The hotel is a short walk to walk from the Plaza Calderon at the heart of Cuenca. Our room was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the excellent Italian Restaurant. The prices are very good value.

My mother and I stayed here for 13 nights. It is the cleanest place we've stayed in Ecuador. The staff are constantly cleaning and touching up the place. It is really lovely; there are multiple seating areas, multiple computers for internet, coffee and tea all day. The breakfasts are filling and healthy and the staff and owners go out of...

We spent 3 perfect nights in this charming, comfortable hotel. It's run by a family who loves what they do, truly cares about thier guests, and are endlessly friendly and helpful. The rooms aren't fancy, but very clean and comfortable. The restaurant attached to the hotel is excellent, one of the best in Cuenca and worth a visit in of...

Really nice place to stay with family, friends or as a couple. In the center of Cuenca, free coffee, tea and filtered water 24/24. Good restaurant belonging to the hotel. The streets of Cuenca are noisy and polluted, so you might not make it your longest stay if you prefer peaceful holidays. However the local archaeological museum (we had a...

Stayed here for 4 days and loved it. I stayed in one of the upper rooms which is a bit removed from the street noises. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Breakfast that was included was wonderful. An easy walk to downtown and most of the sites. The staff helped me with laundry, tours, and suggestions on what to...

There are so many great little inexpensive hostals in Cuenca, I would avoid this one. It's over-priced and over-rated. It is a cute place, the rooms are nice however most of them do not have outside windows. Worst of all, they allow smoking in their common areas which of course you can smell in your room. Also the location is...

Thanks for your comment in the coming months we will try to change the windows and windows to isolate the sound this is a process which we hope will take time for your next visit back to the hotel and see the changes. With respect to our hostel prices are a bit more expensive because the category of our hotel...

Went here on the recommendation of Rough Guides. Big Mistake. It was obviously an old review from when the place was eager to attract customers with decent prices and good customer service. The price was much higher that it in the guide and from what I was quoted over the phone by the receptionist. There was also a large surcharge...

We stayed here for two nights in a family room, for about $95 per night, including breakfast and taxes. The building is beautiful inside and out, decorated in a mainly yellow and blue palette, with some terracotta thrown in. And lots of wood. We were greeted warmly by the friendly receptionist, who insisted in coming to collect our bags from...

“All rooms are good.”
  • This is the patio breakfast area. Not the restaurant.

“The rooms have their unique attributes. Ours had a little balcony overlooking the street and it was very nice and not loud. Though, our loft was over the neighbor's bathroom, and our bathroom was under the neighbor's loft, so with plywood as the only barrier it could depend a lot on who's in the next room.”
  • The loft in our room was great for our daughter

“Light sleepers will need to pick a room carefully. Our room was on the first floor, next to the breakfast area's covered courtyard. It was pretty, with natural light coming through the translucent, atrium type roof. But breakfast set up starts around 7am and will wake a light sleeper up who is trying to sleep in. Also, the second story floors are wooden and quite noisy as people walk to and from their rooms, so that can sometimes be a problem. The bathroom had no auditory privacy from the breakfast area. No problem, a couple of mornings I preferred to use the public bathroom in the hall. Flexibility makes for a happy traveler, no? I enjoyed our room. But MIGHT pick a different one next time.”

“Depends whether you are early risers or not, or if you sleep through everything. My grandson slept till 9-9:30, I amalways up at 7:30 so we were fine. You can always ask for an off street room.”
