Mid priced spot, but the rooms punch above their price class. The layout is fantastic, especially the little courtyards/gardens. Staff are amazing and very helpful. The location is ideal -great access to all the spots in Cusco. The breakfast is standard, same as any other...More
We stay at the Amarus Colonial and Inca while in Cusco.
Right in the heart of San Blas, a historic district known for the talleres or woodshops.
Close to the main square.
Stored and transfered our suitcases between hotels free of charge
Spent 3 nights here seeing all the sights. Amaru is in an ideal location to see everything. Its a couple minute walk to Plaza Mayor & the centro historico.
Its a little uphill in San Blas but you come to the door before your legs...More

Yes taxis stop at the front door although the lane is very narrow. The problem you may have is that although the hotel is pretty central it is half way up a fairly steep lane. The altitude is such is such that even fairly fit people tend to puff quite a bit when walking back to the hotel although it's only steep for less than a hundred yards. When down the hill it's about 10 minutes,or less, walk on the flat to the central square
