I cancelled our reservation in Miraflores as we had a return visit back to Lima. To experience central or historic Lima. Remind you we stayed in 6 local hotels prior to this Terre Verde chain being the best. Hotel is in a good location. It...More
When visiting Lima, it seems so many people neglect the city center for more touristy locations like Miraflores. During a recent trip, we found a hidden gem in the Gran Hotel Bolivar. It is in a fantastic location in the heart of Lima - just...More
I stayed in the Gran Bolivar Hotel 27 years ago. It has visibly aged like me. It has great central location but renovation would be costly so the hotel is just getting older year by year. For $60 we got a room without air conditioning...More
This hotel is unique. Some reviewer I had read compared it with the Grand Budapest Hotel of movie fame -- I think there is some accuracy in that.

As long as you settle your bill early in the day I think it is fine. There is always someone at the front desk though you may have to bang on the bell to get someone's attention. I arrived early for my room 10 AM. They made me wait until 2 PM before giving me a room, which was of very low quality. It faced the center ventilator courtyard that made a loud motorized noise. They did not give a higher quality room until 5 PM facing the streets, which had incredibly loud street noise. Even my trusty earplugs could not muffle the noise.

"Get room facing inside of the hotel for less street noise."
