I was extremely pleased with the people at Hostal Jose Luis. I was lucky that I was the only one in my room, and it was clean and comfortable. The location was excellent, I could walk to the main areas of Miraflores and the steet and area were clean and felt very safe. Most of all the people were friendly...

Yes, it is Miraflores, which is the place to stay in Lima, but there are plenty of other hostal/hotels to stay in. Avoid this place. As mentioned previously, the rooms are dingy, bathrooms are grimy, and I never felt secure. When I arrived late at night, the first they showed us had an open balcony which would not close (and...

While the price is right ($10 a night), Jose Luis is not a very nice place to stay. The reviews I read in travel books were very deceiving. First and foremost, it's not very clean at all. I would classify the towels as rags. The mismatched sheets looked like they were 30+ years old and picked up at the local...
