So the owner's son went to college in the US and returned to operate this charming gem of a hotel. He has the Western gift with service, working with guests, and ensuring you are happy. This place is right in the plaza and in a quiet nook of this small quaint touristy town. This hotel has character. The owner upgrades...

we stayed here based on LP's top pick but were very dissapointed. Service was terrible. the guy at the desk could not have been more unfriendly. when we got to our room, I took my shoes off and walked into the bathroom to find that the toilet leaked out all ove the floor and would not flush. The guy came...

Gringo Bills is located in pretty much the center of the tiny town of Aguas Calientes (aka “Machu Picchu Pueblo”). The town is pedestrian only, so no car will pick you up at the train station. Gringo Bill’s sent someone from their reception to “pick us up” – essentially, this was a person with a dolly who transported our luggage...

I'm not sure what the other hostals in the Aguas Calientes area are like, but I wouldn't stay here again. We found it expensive for what it was -- the room smelled musty, the beds were uncomfortable, the room was incredibly cramped and somewhat run down. I didn't mind the stairs, considering that this seems to be part of the...

Took a chance after reading mixed reviews and lucked out. Okay, it's not the Sanctuary Lodge, but our room was clean and comfortable with a private balcony. Rep met us at the train on arrival. The staff were "laid back" but helpful and friendly to us. Breakfast was simple but good. Solid Wi-Fi in the lobby. We took stairs to...

Since we spent 4 days on the Inka Trail to Machu Picchu, we sprung for the nicest room Gringo Bill's had. Private bathroom, hot tub for 2, shower. The shower was great. Excellent water pressure & plenty of hot water. All for US $135. With a little extra effort, Gringo Bill's could be great. But, they leave some things unattended...

The room was old and dusty, like they haven't been cleaned for 2 months. No refrigerator in the room, no complimentary water, no lifts in the hotel, so we have to climb up a few flights of stairs to get to our room in 3rd floor. There was also ocassion that the hot water stopped in the middle of shower....

We found Gringo Bills in a guidebook. When we first got to Aguas Calientes we walked around and checked out some other places, but this place just felt like home. The design is fun and the location right next to the square is great. It was a 1 minute walk to the goverment office where we bought our entry tickets...
