We had high expectations for this place after reading all the great reviews and seeing the intro video on its website. I must say, yes, the hotel grounds is beautiful, rooms are beautiful, however, seems they are nickle-and-dime-ing us on everything (i.e. needed to pay for water if wanted more than the 1L complementary bottle provided, 10% gratuity included on...

We booked this hotel using Tripadvisor recommendations and are amazed by the reviews that stated there was no train noise. We stayed two nights and both mornings were woken between 3&4 am by noise from the tracks. Not trains at first, but banging as if someone was hitting the rails with a large hammer - the trains started a bit...

Our room was directly above the train tracks. We never heard a thing! It was amazingly comfortable and clean with lots of hot water. The grounds are lovely. We were given a private tour by the manager, who showed us the school and farm. She even walked us to the ruins and arranged a Machu Picchu guide for the next...

We chose this place as a two day stop before heading up machu pichu, thinking we might have to put up with some noise due to the proximity to the train (a good convenience when it comes to boarding). To our pleasant surprise the place is dead quiet on the inside, you can barely feel the train as it arrives....

We booked two nights at El Abergue as our "splurge" hotel after hiking the four day Inca Trail. The room did not disappoint. It was beautiful and felt luxurious. The bed is very comfortable, the bathrooms are large, exceptionally clean and have hot water. The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained, and look very tropical. There are some adirondack chairs for...

We stayed here twice, before and after Machu Picchu, in two different rooms. Both were balcony rooms and had 2 double beds with a view of the grassy area. We loved the second one that overlooked the mountain range (on a clear day). Rooms #15 & 16 are probably the best due to the straight on views of the mountains....

My trepidation was profound on arrival. There had been a strike in the area and the station was very busy. Walking on to a busy platform to check in was a novel experience. We thought our sleep would be disturbed but it was fear that didn't come to fruition. We liked the food and it was good and the beds...

We booked this hotel almost a year in advance and were quoted a price per night. We paid for the first night via paypal. Although we informed the hotel we would be there early and asked politely if our room could be ready, it was not. We had to wait about 2 hours for the room to be ready. They...

Thank for your review. I am happy you enjoyed the location and restaurant at El Albergue. I sincerely apologize for the frustration you experienced upon check-out. All of our rates do not include a 10% gratuity charge, as clearly stated on our website, where you booked your reservation. I absolutely understand the confusion based on your previous gratuities, but we...

Love this hotel. We first thought we had made a mistake picking this hotel because it appeared to be farther away from the main area of the town but changed our minds quickly. Easy walk to town and sites but far enough away to feel like you were no where near everyone else. Super location for taking the train in...

If you are travelling from Cusco and the Valley of the Incas to Macchu Pichu or vice versa and plan to take the 'panorama train', give this hotel a try. We were very tired and our agent had booked us in here. We had our own 'chalet' room which was big and simply furnished with en-suite. Deck chairs outside and...
