We accidentally arrive a day before our reservation around 8. The couple that run up quickly made up our rooms which were nice. However, outside our room there was loud music and people talking. As promised the music was turned down at 9:30 and I slept fine with ear plugs. Breakfast was fresh Made juice and they cooked the eggs...

All I will say is that the man who runs the place was very inappropriate with my friend and I on separate occasions, almost immediately to arriving. He even grabbed us inappropriately! When we slept, we locked the door and put a chair in front of it because we didn't trust him. Looking back, we should have just left altogether...

I recently stayed at Sumac Chaska Hostal, both before and after visiting Machu Picchu. The owner was super nice and helped me with questions before my stay and during my stay. I originally booked a dorm room, but then the price for my own room was only a small bit more, so I had a room to myself. The hot...

The couple who runs Sumac Chaska goes out of their way to accommodate you. I can't tell you how many questions I asked about getting to Machu Picchu after being told wrong information earlier. The hostel beds are EXTREMELY comfortable. Plenty of sheets that were obviously just cleaned. They showed me to my room and brought me to the roof...

Sumac Chaska is fantastic! Marie is the best host and knows everything about the area! Everything is very clean and comfortable. I stayed there while leading a group of high school students, and Marie was superbly accommodating and helpful: from calling a doctor for a house call for a student to walking with me to the market to secretly find...

The rooms decor felt hip and homey. I am a vegan and the owners were very accommodating with my dietary needs. It was a plus that their breakfast was more than just bread and jam. The owner's are also knowledgeable about Ollantaytambo.

A friend and I stayed in a 5bed dorm. The rooms are beautiful and clean w comfortable beds and the property has nice views. That is where the positive ends. The man who helped us at check in acted like putting luggage in storage for the afternoon was a hassle (no lockers here)...I had to argue and explain the necessity....

I stayed with my wife two days in Sumac Cashka hostal. The location was great since we booked the train to Aguas Calientes from Ollantaytambo train station very early. Walking from the hostal to the train station was 10 minutes but we took the moto-taxi which cost 4 soles. The room was fine but the lighting of the room was...

My group of students and I stayed at the Sumac Chaska Hostal for one night in July during the middle of our two week trip to the Cusco region of Peru. Marie, the hostal co-owner/manager, is such a pleasure! She made sure we were all fed well, comfortable, and that all of our needs were met. This included helping us...

Buliding is in a lovely location. Some rooms are old and many, others are new and refurbished....make sure you look at the room first to get the latter...we changed ours in the end. Be warned...at the time of staying only half the showers had hot water working....check this first before settling on your room. We ended up changing from one...

You have to be thankful for this kind of guest because they provide good lessons. In general, we have lovely, interesting guests from all over the world, but every so often (and I'm sorry to say, it's usually my fellow English countrymen) someone comes by who wants to take you for all they can get and they think they know...
