Our room on the sixth floor was a pleasure. There was a veranda out the French doors that offered an all dimensional view of the ciudad vieja. It was probably larger than the room. The high ceilinged bathroom had plenty of hot water and space. The sixty year old elevator was opened aired with lots of brass. We had a...

Unfortunately, I dont think I got the best room. The room had a very awfull smell specially the toilet. The bed was very uncomfortable and the sheet had hair and smell bad. The wifi was absolutely poor. There is no breakfast service. I didnt like how insisting the staff is on leaving the room key with them before leaving the...

This hotel is an old building located just a few blocks away from Teatro Solis, Plaza Independencia and other important places in the colonial side of Montevideo. The hotel is nothing fancy and does not offer breakfast, however you get good value for what you pay, the staff was very friendly and was everything we needed while getting around to...

What an excellent start to my visit to Uruguay! Situated right between Montevideo's gorgeous Old City and the restaurants and shops of the new area, you couldn't ask for a better or more central location. From here it's easy to wander the cobbled-stone streets of the Ciudad Vieja, as well as take a bus to Montevideo's inter-city bus station. When...

We stayed here for 2 days in december. The hotel is about 30 minutes from the airport.Just around the corner you find the old city and the Andes Museum. It is run by two lovely ladies who are eager to help you with everything. Our room was on the third floor which can be reached by elevator. Our room was...

I stayed here for 2 nights and had a top floor room with a wonderful, huge balcony. The hotel is in a great location, just a few steps from the main pedestrian street and a block from the main plaza. It has an old fashioned elevator (wrought iron grill that you can see through) which was awesome. The place has...

This hotel is located in the Old City of Montevideo, and is a walking distance from some of Montevideo's main attractions, like the Torres Garcia museum and Plaza San Martin. The building is old and quaint, and though I usually like quaint buildings, I found the hotel to be a bit creepy. This was coupled by having an old, grumpy...

European grace in a very inexpensive hotel. The rooms aren't fancy, but they were clean and comfortable. Most importantly the staff was always friendly and helpful. The location was wonderful, made Montevideo a memorable side trip.

I first became aware of Hotel Palacio about ten years ago after a chance conversation with someone who was staying there. This was my third revisit to Montevideo and having booked many months in advance, I managed to get a room. More bijou than palacial, this little gem was worth the wait. At first glance it looks as though it...

I absolutely loved the building this hotel was located in, it is old and full of character. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and gave me some pointers about getting around Montevideo. It is very quiet but close to the river and within reasonable distance of some of the other city attractions.
