Staff was very friendly. The room was very well appointed. The location of the hotel is about 20 minutes from downtown and just a bit longer from the "old city". We preferred this area as it is nice and quiet.
This a extremely well managed hotel. I have been in many five stars around the world and this one of my top ones. They made feel at home. Excellence in management and service. All staff are extremely polite and helpful. We spent almost two weeks at this hotel. My twins enjoyed each minute at the pool. Thank you so much to Omar, Claudia Jones and Rosa Maria, you were amazing! My kids had so much fun at the pool! The pool is delightful warm and clean. We also enjoyed a great breakfast everyday. At the restaurant, Nelson, Kris and Melissa were always so kind and helpful with us. This is a highly recommended hotel. I rarely give a five stars review but this hotel really deserves it. I hope they will always keep a high standard in comfort and service.
We stayed 6 nights during Christmas week with my family and rented two rooms. The property is modern, clean, and well-decorated. It is well worth the price as it includes an amazing breakfast, a beautiful swimming pool, and complimentary valet parking. Initially, there was a hiccup during the check-in as the counter staff did not accommodate my request to change the room(there was a stain on the carpet). However, the manager, Kathleen, was very receptive to our needs and able to quickly come up with a solution. From the interaction, I realized that she is an amazing person as she understands customers' needs and puts their priorities first. In addition, we met nice staff like Carl and Jennifer who made our stay pleasant as they demonstrated courtesy, patience, and respect. These people along with the beautiful property of Santa Maria made our family vacation enjoyable and relaxing. We will return this property with family and friends.…
Santa Maria Luxury Collection Hotel One of our favorite hotels in Panama City. I think it is only 2 years old. It is resort style place and great for a family vacation. Hotel decorated beautifully and has a lot of traditional art pieces. Great customer service and very detail oriented. Front desk experience was great, room service as well. Hotel has a nice pool area with cabanas and pool bar with the golf course view. The pool area is kids friendly and for smaller kids there is a special shallow kids pool. Since the hotel is located in a county club it is very quiet and safe, so you will sleep well at night and rest well during the day. You will have to rent a car or take a taxi if you want to go out to the city, because the hotel is located at least 10 minutes away driving from the restaurants, mall and bars area. You cannot really walk much near the hotel area, but you can play golf or visit the gym, which is pretty good size and has a lot of equipment, water bottles and bathroom. Rooms are very cozy, super comfortable beds, and blankets and pillows soft like clouds. In the room there are smart TVs with high resolution and Netflix (which is not common in Panama City based on my experience), cool coffee machines (one of the best I’ve ever used) and cute details like hand-made basket for the toiletries in the bathrooms and chocolates with the turn down service. Across the lobby there is a coffee shop with fresh sandwiches and delicious deserts (tres leches cake was our favorite). Breakfast buffet was very tasty and had a lot of options. There are a couple of options for lunch and dinner. And we had a beautiful traditional live performance during our dinner, which was amazing. There is wonderful spa where they offer multiple services so you don’t have to leave the hotel. And there are several conference areas, which can be rented for celebration special occasions. Our experience was great but I would suggest to pay attention to the cleanliness of the outside seating area. Tables need to be wiped more frequently and dishes need to be removed as soon as guests leave the tables to keep the birds out (since they are chasing the leftovers). I had to ask for a table to be cleaned for us to seat and enjoy our coffee and desert that we got at the coffee shop, since many tables were vacant but not clean and had birds eating leftovers. Also wet wipes for cleaning equipment were out at the gym and I had mentioned a couple people about it, the carpet at the gym was a little worn out and a potential fall hazard. I tripped a couple of times while working out, but it was not bad and I didn’t fall. We were in love with the hotel and had an amazing experience. Thank you very much for making our vacation memorable!…
Overall our stay was pleasant. Its design, including the pool area, is attractive and it is located in a quiet part of town, with rooms overlooking the golf course on one side, and part of the city/parking lot on the other side. We were on the latter, on the 5th. floor and it was not noisy. On the positive side, service was very friendly since the moment we stepped out of the car. The double room was clean, spacious, mattresses firm and comfortable, and the bathroom - with a shower - was huge so comfortable for 2 people to be using at the same time. Also, if you felt like spending a quiet day in the room relaxing you could log into your Netflix account using the room's TV. The Gym was open 24hrs., well equipped and never full. On the not so positive side: - Check in was slow despite having 2 people at the counter. - Service at the main Restaurant (in the Lobby) was slow and the quality of the food not so good; dishes we tried were bland, lacking in flavor, and the Brunch Buffet wasn't anything special as we've had good ones, with a better variety of foods, at other Marriott hotels, both in Panama and abroad. - Service at the Pool Area was very slow; we had to call the waiters to be serviced and remind them of our order, nevertheless, they apologized. So despite the polite customer service, they need to improve in these areas to increase guest satisfaction - and more so being part of the Marriot'ts Luxury Collection!, train their personnel better and/or provide more personnel to attend to guests in a prompt manner.…
One of the bellhops made me uncomfortable with his gruff manner but my "urban view" room was quiet, attractive, clean, comfortable, and well-appointed...kudos to the housekeeping staff (more on this in a moment). It was a bit warm even with the aircon on lowest setting. Despite the fact that the tech just doesn't work (the Bonvoy app, the chat option, the "member benefits"/"mobile requests" they emailed me about, the contact form on the website when I tried to report left items, the online check-in...none of it worked from my new Mac or perfectly functioning Android phone)...and despite the fact that people were very slow to respond to emails (especially when I tried to book under group rate...two days and I have to email again?)...despite all that, in-person customer service and attention over the phone were good. Everyone seemed a tad impatient but having worked in hospitality that never surprises me. Room for improvement: It's completely unacceptable that I couldn't break $20 bills to get $5 bills for tipping purposes...the young lady at reception, the valets, the bellhops, none of them had change. I had to ask other guests. Room service breakfast: my scrambled eggs were awful but I appreciated being able to order a side of avocado and it was a big portion. Most hotels in this price range would provide a small pot of coffee as opposed to a cold cup of coffee (don't be so miserly, it's unbecoming) and the person delivering the food should offer to remove plastic and be gracious when tipped (she literally said, "what's this?"). I'm sure she didn't mean to be rude, but some additional training would help smooth out those rough edges. I can tell they've made some effort to train staff to make everyone feel welcome regardless of race, gender, etc. However, some of the people I dealt with need additional training. On the plus side: I forgot my closet items, some of which were valuable, and everything was kept so I could send a messenger to retrieve it all, so I'm grateful for that. (The bar isn't very high when you're thanking people for simply being honest but the last time I forgot items at a hotel they had mysteriously disappeared so...my sincere appreciation for the housekeeping staff.)…
Beautiful and incredible hotel and service. The restaurant is very good and the bar has the best cocktails I've ever tasted. If you go to the mestizo bar ask for Elias, his attention is a 10/10 and he made the best cocktails I’ve tried in Panama!! I would definitely go back again 100%
Showed up at the hotel after a long flight to be told my reserved and credit card guaranteed room was given away. I was told at reception that they apparently overbook just like airlines . 30 years of traveling for business and never heard this one before!!! Have stayed here before but never again
This place is the best in Panamá hands down and the bartenders (Elias and Miguel) are awesome! I checked out some of the other hotels in the Panama City and nothing compares to The Santa Maria. The food at Mestizo and The Grill House is delicious and the staff is amazing. Shout out to my friend Elias at the bar, the mixologist. You want drinks, go see my boy! And my friend Andrea at the steakhouse, providing extraordinary service! Not to mention the hotel is exquisite with a beautiful pool and the rooms are extremely nice and clean with very comfortable beds.
First time ever with my daughter and her best friend. Amazing staff, mega friendly, excellent environment, fantastic food…I mean…Luxury all the way! Room comfy, amenities, everything top of the game We will def come back very soon!!
