The Le Meridien Panama Hotel is one of the best bargains to be found in Panama City. When we made our reservation at the Le Meridien it had the best price (for the quality of the rooms) of the Marriott brand hotels. Many rooms were $500/night or more. We love the location. Easy walking to many of the best restaurants in the City. However, there is no need to go out as the hotel has an excellent dining area. One common complaint is the Executive Lounge is closed. Okay, so what? As Marriott Elite members, we were offered free breakfast every morning and a free cocktail hour in the evening. The rooms are large and comfortable. Plenty of space for me to "set up my office" and work online while enjoying the comforts of being at home. The front desk and the restaurant both have English-speaking staff (not an issue for us) who are extremely friendly and very helpful. We prefer rooms on the higher floors. Some rooms have an ocean/partial ocean view. There is a gym for those who like to work out, a spa for those who want to be pampered, and a pool for those who like to make a splash in life. Maybe I shouldn't write such a good review, I certainly don't want to make this place so popular that it will be difficult to get a room in the future. …
When we arrived due to extenuating circumstances our rooms were not available. The staff worked diligently to make it right. Friendly accommodating and great place to stay. Will definitely stay here again
My wife and i really enjoyed staying here. It was our first trip to Panama City. Great value, great location, helpful staff. Water front view from our room, walking distance to good restaurants, roof top pool was very nice. I would highly recommend it.
Second visit to Panama, we had a great stay for a full week at Le Meridien. Location is amazing with gorgeous views of the water, marina, sky scrapers, and Casco Viejo to the side, we enjoyed viewing fireworks on a couple of nights from our large picture window. We were able to walk to many restaurants, coffee shop, and even all they way to Casco Viejo a few nights when we didn’t want to take an Uber (which was only $3 from here). We really love the city- so much to do here, yet easy enough to leave from this location for excursions (we did 5 day excursions in total from here, including San Blas islands and Portobelo snorkeling) Room is very spacious for a family of 4, with lots of closet and drawer space. You can hear a little traffic from the Main Street (worthwhile trade off for the exceptional view) and I am a light sleeper yet I slept like a baby! The bed and pillows set you up for a dreamy slumber and I am incredibly fussy about beds and pillows. Gym and pool- gym was more than sufficient with a decent view when using the treadmill. Pool is small and closes early- a bit of a shame as there is a nice covered patio area. Water was a little cold but refreshing, we took advantage after returning from excursions before going out for the evening. Would love to see it left open until 9 or 10 pm. Restaurant food was very good, we enjoyed a buffet breakfast every morning. Didn’t try for dinner as we were always out. Now, for the best part- the front desk staff! Absolutely the best! So helpful from the first night- changing our room to a higher floor when we asked, giving us guidance and recommendations for tours, restaurants, directions, and getting us extra robes and towels for the pool. They even helped us with changing our SIM cards as we didn’t understand the Spanish instructions! They also prepared and sent us off with a packaged breakfast on one day when we had to leave at 5:00 am for San Blas. Always friendly, always offering assistance, service was top notch here! This really contributed to our family having a trip that was perfection, can’t wait to go back!…
Superb place to stay in the city. Room was amazing (although I did get a free upgrade). Really nice restaurant downstairs with very impressive staff who couldn’t do enough to ensure all was perfect. Definitely recommend if wanting to stay in the heart of the new city.
Excellent location, just steps away from the main road and coffee shops, restaurants, metro, buses, banks, etc. Fantastic breakfast that was included in the price. Their parking lot is not covered, which is awesome if you have a car that is tall and wide. They are pet friendly and went above and beyond to make me and my dog feel welcome. The only downside is that it is a bit pricey but well worth it if you don't mind spending extra on a hotel room.
Terrible for guests requests, asked for an airport pick up for another person at a specific time via WhatsApp and in person but it was registered PM instead of AM, when asked about it in front desk the answer was just: “sorry”, also, the executive lounge was not working at all, no snacks or beverages, just a table and chairs, and finally, the gym machines need maintenance
The hotel is well situated in Panama city to walk to restaurants and bars and 10 minutes by taxi or Uber to the Old historic town. The staff were good, nice bar and food, the pool is small and shadowed from sun much of the day. Great views out to the bay with the offshore islands and cargo boats and cruise ships waiting to go thru or have come thru the canal. However the horrible thing is the traffic noise and it's constant from around am to 2am! The hotel is situated on a busy main road and the traffic noise and constant horn honking and heavy vehicles and buses braking, it's a nightmare, impossible to get to sleep. And to make it even worse, the hotel has to do something about the pimped up cars that park up on weekends and evenings in a large council car parking lot opposite. They roar their engines, play boombox music, then race up and down the avenue. The noise is horrendous and horrible. I recommend you not to stay at this hotel Thursday thru Sunday night, you won't get a minutes peace. I was told by local friends it happens all the time, it's a regular meeting hub for these pimped up cars. Totally spoilt my stay. Le Meridian you have to do yourselves a favour and try to stop this. …
The front desk was excellent! The restaurant in the lobby was good also! The location was perfect to find restaurants and shopping! Everyone was super helpful! There are about 8 stairs and ramps to enter the hotel which makes carrying bags tough!
I normally do not take the time to write a review of a lackluster or poor experience, however given my check in experience for a pre-cruise stay at Le Meridien I am making time today. In short, we arrived just before the check in time and were told that rooms were not ready yet, but we were being upgraded so we figured that would be a benefit. However after waiting an hour, having a couple of drinks, and watching others, who arrived after us, receiving their rooms, I became quite frustrated. The young lady at the front desk said she tried to talk to housekeeping but they would not give a ready time so there was nothing else she could do. I emphasized that we were now waiting for an upgraded room, that we didn't even ask for, while others are being checked right in. She offered free breakfast in the morning however only for one person. My response "My husband has been waiting with me, however only 1 person can eat for free?". Her response "Yes." to which I asked to speak to a manager. The manager later came out and also apologized for our wait. She at least offered breakfast for 2 instead of just 1 of us and immediately looked for an available room on her laptop. At this point we had watched maybe 3 other couples arrive after us but be checked in. After asking the manager for any room at this point (at least the level of which we booked) she "found" one which, once we walked into it, appeared to be an upgraded room. Which had no soap and only one washcloth. Upon entering the space and putting my things down I immediately cancelled my post cruise stay and booked at the Waldorf around the corner (which had outstanding service, despite them also being fully booked). I debate the motivation of the staff in having us wait so long vs exercising common sense in the moment. Most likely they gave our room to someone else and used an upgrade as a way to placate us to wait. Unfortunately it failed, especially given our long travel day, and watching others check in before us. I normally don't need to throw my hotel reward status and frequent Marriott usage around but I felt we were mistreated by the front desk staff and I'm still not sure if it were on purpose. I ensured to provide a similar review to Marriot as well because I expect more from such properties, and have experienced better service. Even the free breakfast buffet for 2 was lackluster and not worth the compensation. Despite all this, those working in the restaurant and bar were kind and attentive. Unfortunately this didn't translate to that front desk, at least not for my husband and I. I appreciate the manager finally making things right, however it should have not needed to make it to her in the first place.…
