We had hopes that this place would be something special but unfortunately was disappointing. We arrived at Jungla de Panama exactly on time that we had specified, but walked in to find a dark Hostel with no one around. Wonderful elevated property just minutes outside of busy Boquete, Panama, with all the pleasant weather! It's a lovely paved drive up to the Jungla Animal Refuge, Hostel and Restaurant. no one seems to know where this place is,cabs can't find it,people on the street don't know it,no sign at the front ,their phone numbers don't work either,makes it hard when you arrive in a new city at night

stayed there after staying at their other hostal in Bouquete. Taxi driver did not know where it was and even when you are right in front of it there is no sign. That is a bit annoying. I stayed at La Jungla for 2 weeks whilst I was at Spanish Panama language school. I chose it as it was recommended by the school and only 2 blocks away. However be aware that this is in the business end of town, a bus or taxi ride away from the old town. Also, the hostel isn't easy to locate... More

I stayed in La Jungla in January. It's perfectly located in the city center - everything you need is within walking distance. Too bad they charge 10% tax on top of the displayed prices... After staying in inexpensive but lovely places in Ecuador, it was a bit of shock to return to dorm rooms and shared bathrooms at a cost that was more expensive than private rooms in Ecuador. La Jungla has deteriorated significantly since my last review and the perception of safety went out the door along with the five armed gunmen who robbed everybody at the Hostel last time I was there. The staff has grown surly, good luck getting coffee, multiple air conditioned rooms had the air conditioner broken and the kitchen and baths were filthy.... More
