While the grounds are kept nicely, the hotel is in need of repair and repainting. The ice machine on my floor smelled of mold and did not function. When it was fixed the ice cubes had debris inside them. The view from the hotel is of 50+ cargo ships waiting to transit the Panama canal. The water washing ashore had a brown foam that prevented me from swimming in it.

Overall this is a very nice resort, very well run, it is very beautiful and it’s nice to be on the beach is a place to the crowds in the city. There were a few minor problems along the way but luckily Iris at the front desk solved every problem or issue that came along! Without her, my review of the stash might have been much different and much lower, but she is very efficient courteous and knowledgeable. Thank God for her excellent help! Other than the bad weather, which comes with the territory, when you visit a hotel in Central America in August lol, everything is fine at the Westin Playa Bonita.. keep up the good work, I will be sure to visit again in the future!!

Playa Bonita, “pretty beach,” was poorly named. The beach is crushed shells, not sand. Painful to walk on, and definitely not a place to swim. If you’re looking for beachside at your hotel, keep looking. The staff was great. Everyone was friendly. The hotel was pretty and the room was comfortable and spacious.

We spent over two amazing weeks at this Westin property. The staff were excellent. They recognized my Titanium Elite status and upgraded us to a full ocean-view Suite. We had the all inclusive package, and the restaurants did not disappoint. The food was always fresh and impressive. Lots of excellent options at the buffet restaurant too. Be sure to check out the different bars, because each typically had slightly different liquor options. One had a Chivas Regal 18 available during our stay, which was a real treat. There were so many pools to choose from, that we didn't even miss not going into the ocean. As other reviewers noted, due to the proximity to the Panama canal and the dramatic changes between low and high tide, the ocean at the resort is not idea to frolic around in. That's not the hotel's fault. It was no problem for us, because the pools were so amazing. We didn't miss not splashing in the ocean on bit! The staff were very helpful with any and all of our requests. We had an issue with our room, and they sent staff up to fix the issue immediately. Also, the Panamazing Tour company had some excellent tours. They have a location right in the lobby of the hotel. We took two different tours and we were impressed with both. We would also highly recommend Panamazing. They had an excellent deal for us to visit this hotel for over two weeks. The only things I can think to mention as negatives are two things. #1 - on the weekends they sell "day passes" to the locals, which flood the pool and resort. This makes it harder to enjoy the amenities, because of the throngs of people. They should really limit the number of day passes (maybe reduce them by at least 30%) to address this problem. We were there two weeks, so it wasn't as big of a deal due to how many days we had to enjoy the resort. However, if I was there for a weekend getaway, I would have been a lot more disappointed. #2 - they mostly had no variety of music that they played at the pool. On the weekdays (when there were no locals with day passes) the vast majority of the guests were American. However, they would play the same stale Latin dance music that they had been playing all weekend for the locals. One time, for like only an hour or two, they mixed it up by playing American rock and roll from the 1980s, and the guests loved it. Everyone was grooving. However, they only did that one time, even when multiple guests asked them to switch up the music. It seemed like they only wanted to play the music that the staff picking the music personally enjoyed. Management should really correct that. It should be the other way around. Play music that your paying guests will enjoy, not just the music the staff likes. Those are two things the hotel can improve upon. However, it does not lower my rating of 5 starts for this excellent hotel. Great hotel. We will be back, especially if Panamazing has another excellent deal!

We stayed six nights in early October and had a great experience. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was large and comfortable, and we had a wonderful Pacific view from our balcony. We enjoyed watching the ships lining up to enter the canal and observing the coming and going of the tides twice each day. The pools were clean and enjoyable, and we liked going into the ocean at high tide periods and walking along the beach at low tide. We liked the ability to buy the all-inclusive package a day at a time, for those days when we did not take excursions. We liked the food options, using all-inclusive for two days, ala carte and room service other days. The buffet option had lots of choices and the food was good. They have a transportation desk outside the front lobby that arranged taxi rides into town and to the airport for us. Cab rides into the city cost $50 round trip for two people, and the cab to Tocumen airport was $45 for two people. We had a wonderful experience and I hope to return some day.

The hotel is in a lovely setting with rooms with ocean views or rain forrest views. Initially, I was disappointed not to get an ocean view, but quickly changed my mind. My bathroom had a tub with a ceiling to floor window view of the rain forrest. It was quiet and peaceful, away from all the noise from the pools and bars on the ocean side. The room was spacious and comfortable. The configuration of the rooms used for meetings was confusing, but that would not affect vacationers.

A great place to stay. Very nice grounds and pool. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice and had a great view. It was a very good value for the money. Also the restaurant had a great buffet. I would highly recommend staying here for anyone visiting Panama City.

The rooms and views at the pool were great. Lunch for our conference was fantastic. But all the restaurants and bar service at night were tragically bad. Some of the worst food I’ve ever had. Service at the bar was very poor. Took more than an hour to get our watery salad and rubbery burger.

The hotel was vey nice! Upon arrival I was greet as a Marriott member and given an ocean view room. When I came back at night the first night I was surprised by a plate with delicious fruit and a welcome card, what a nice gesture!!! Our room rate included breakfast, which was delicious and with plenty of options. Our conference included lunch, which was at Pacifica restaurant, always delicious and with a lot of choices! The only bad experience, twice, was the Starfish restaurant. Service was very bad, the waiting after ordering was between 50 to 1:15 minutes, ridiculous! We went first for dinner (1:15 waiting for our food to arrive). And then lunch the last day, 20 minutes waiting just for a waiter to come. We end up deciding to use the snack bar (only burgers and hotdogs, fries and nachos) instead of ordering from the menu (the waitress told us it will be around 45 min for any food to be served). This restaurant does not represent the quality and services we receive in this hotel, so if possible stay away from it! The hotel is far from everything, so ubers are super hard to get… other transportation services are quite expensive compare to ubers.

We just came back from a full week here. Check in was a breeze, the front desk agent was very informative and helpful. We got a surprise upgrade to an ocean view room instead of the garden we booked. We live in the Caribbean, so we see Caribbean beaches all the time, but this beach is amazing to watch. The tide is insane! In a good way (not for swimming but it made for good watching haha). So the pros of the hotel: - Very VERY friendly staff. Everyone had a friendly disposition, and always greeted with a smile. The staff definitely carries the resort. - grounds are beautiful and well kept - pools are amazing and one is absolutely huge. - there’s a kids playground that’s always accessible(but bring bug spray and watch for ants!) - we needed covid testing done for travel (our home country still requires them) and the concierge was very helpful at arranging a clinic to come to us to take the samples. Now unfortunately, there are some cons to mention… - housekeeping was inconsistent… room was clean enough, but as you can see in the pictures, there’s mold in the shower and dirt in places that have obviously not been cleaned in a long time. - the pillows on the beds smelled like mold. I was going to request new ones but forgot, and by the third day the scent seemed to have left. - one day we’d get 2 towels, other days 3 and only 2 days of our 7 days we got the correct amount (4). I had to leave a note requesting that. Same issue with the complimentary water you are supposed to get daily… most days we didn’t receive any. Normally not a big deal but since there’s no convenience store nearby or on premises, and we’re not paying 5$ for a bottle of water, this was quite annoying… - nothing in walking distance. No convenience store on premises if you need a water, razor or something like that… - the room was an upgrade, but it had random stains on the walls, rusty shower hinges, and black stains (don’t think it was mold but it did Look terrible!) all around the ac. (See pictures) The toilet seat was broken and moved when you’d sit on it, and the entire toilet door (heavy frosted glass) had its hinges coming out. It was scary, especially since we have kids. We mentioned it to the front desk and they just had someone screw it back in. It proceeded to come out again bit by bit the remainder of our time. - bath robes with holes in them… not exactly the luxurious feeling it’s supposed to represent… - phone Never worked. We mentioned it, were told someone would come check but nobody did. Normally not a problem except we were expecting a call from the testing center. - hotel is nice and quiet unless there’s an event or convention. The last 2 days of our stay it got super busy, and it became clear that the elevators were not enough for the load of people needing them. - restaurant navigation is confusing. There’s a schedule posted in the elevator and at random spots in the lobby indicating which restaurant has breakfast buffet or dinner etc. But 5 out of the 7 days we were sent to the next restaurant, schedule was way off. It’s a bit annoying as the restaurants are on different floors, not exactly next to each other. -speaking of restaurants, we had dinner a la carte at starfish one night, it was empty with 3 tables of people… my husband and I ordered appetizers and then main dishes for us and our kids. They served our appetizers, and the mains for the kids, then the main for my husband but made a mistake with my main order and didn’t register it in the system. I got my food after everyone else was finished eating… Now mistakes happen where people work, but it wasn’t even acknowledged or apologized for. It left a bad impression. Food wasn’t amazing either. Pacifica had better buffet for sure, even breakfast. - there are NO brochures with info available in the room. No spa info, no kids club schedule, nothing. Kids club was never open while we were there. All in all, it’s really the staff of the hotel that makes this place. I don’t know if we will be back when we come to panama. Might try another place instead.
