I was so utterly disspointed at my experience at this hotel that I felt compelled to write this message. Arrived at the hotel late evening and was made to wait for 45 minutes for my room although I had specified my arrival time at 7pm. The room they gave me was utterly awful! Old, dirty and in a deplorable state! When I called down to complain the person who said was the manager told me they were overbooked and that this was the only room left in the hotel so I could take it or leave it... The alternative was a hotel 25 minutes into the city which I recall is a nightmare to get out of early in the morning. I then proceeded to check out the next morning under the promise that my early departure would not be charged which was! I have already claimed this through my credit card. I did check in to another marriott hotel nearby and my what a difference it was! Honestly speaking tough, I would recommend this hotel to my enemies!…
I arrived here after a long day of traveling. The first words from the person behind the desk...was " we have been trying to get in touch with you"...I knew that was trouble --and a lie, I got no messages or emails and my room was fully paid. I was told that they had no more rooms and they put me at a hotel "down the block",,,lie #2, it was 10-15 travel no traffic, 20-25 in morning. I informed the person behind the counter that I had to stay here because my food was being delivered here, my entire team was here and we were being picked up in morning and my Covid test was early in the morning, They said not to worry, they would have a car waiting at 730 am to take me back to this hotel, lie # 3. At 730 am I was outside looking for my car and not only was there no car, no one spoke English. Fortunately, I took the night manager's card since he promised me that he would reimburse me for my troubles--lie #4...he said what he had to say to get me out of the hotel. I showed the card to a driver and used my broken Spanish..the driver took a picture of that card and proceeded to take me 30 min out of the way to the wrong Westin...yes missed my morning appointments, Ps- I emailed the night and day managers and still no response…
I stayed for 2 months in this place and thsi was my best ever experience. Starting from the Front office person Mr Bob to The front desk head Mr Eric to the person who greeted me every day during breakfast Miss martha to the folks who cleant my room to each and every person in teh hotel were absolutely excellent and made me feel like family I can proudly say this was one of my best hotel stay experience ever. Kudos to the entire staff Excellent service and keep up teh good work
Excellent service, location, quality of rooms and pool! We checked in late at night, and were warmly greeted. Both the bellmen and the front desk were more than accommodating. The breakfast buffet is one of the best free breakfasts (goes until 1pm) that I have seen and it was good fresh food. The pool was perfect for us and an amazing view. We enjoyed walking through the Costa Del Este area, especially the path by the water. Great restaurants within walking distance. The rooms were spacious, clean and housekeeping was great.
We flew in to Tocumen International Airport in the evening and were flying out at Albrook Gelabert Airport to Bocas del Toro the following morning, so we wanted a hotel reasonably convenient to both airports. The Westin Panama fit that bill. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant the night that we arrived and it was great, including the fresh fish. The suite was lovely and the hotel left a welcoming fruit basket, which was much appreciated after a long flight!
I stayed here on a quick two day trip I tagged onto my Costa Rica vacation courtesy of Copa Airlines. It was my first time in Panama and there are alot of hotel choices. I am very pleased to say a made the right hotel pic! This place is great: new, great restaurant, customer service and location. It reminded me of the great times a decade ago with the old Starwood Customer treatment by the hotels. Highly recommended!
Great hotel. Friendly staff. Might be a little bit dark in some common areas at night. But great location if you have business in Costa del Este. Also, breakfast is very good and helpful staff. Rental cars are at the door available and parking facilities
The hotel is western and with many proficient English speakers. Clean room comfy bed. Pool is clean but small and cold. Breakfast was excellent and it is included. Friendly and flexible staff. Would stay again.
My husband and I spent 7 nights at the Westin Panama this month for a multi-purpose (but non-vacation) trip. He needed to take care of some business in his native Panama, while I needed to work virtually from the hotel all day, and we were both visiting his family, who lives a block away, in the evenings. The management and staff of the Westin Panama made what could have been a very stressful and tedious trip as pleasant and seamless as possible. The hotel is in Costa del Este, a nice neighborhood within walking distance from the water, many good restaurants, etc. The most attractive feature of the hotel itself is the views. Any which way you looked from the rooftop,-- 360 degrees, and from both the living room and bedroom of our suite– the views (the colors alone) were stunning. The lobby is large and open, sort of melting into the restaurant, but still inviting and welcoming. As Titanium Elite Bonvoy members, we were upgraded to a Renewal Suite, which had a separate living room with guest bathroom, and a master bedroom with floor to ceiling windows and a large bathroom with a separate shower and whirlpool bath (for two). The staff went out of their way to supply us with three different brands of various bath/spa products, which was most appreciated. Although the Westin Club lounge that we would otherwise have access to was closed, as nearly all club/executive lounges are at this time, the hotel provided breakfast in the restaurant and happy hour (including my local favorite– Ron Abuelo). Before we even checked in, I was in touch with the hotel because of the complexity of our trip, being that my husband and I would be frequently coming and going both together and separately, but I would basically be working remotely in the room all day, needing privacy and not to be disturbed. I sent what was a not insignificant amount of requests e.g. our coffee/tea preferences for the room, items we wanted in the mini-bar, extra towels because we never seem to have enough, requesting housekeeping ‘on-demand’ after 5pm daily (which I was impressed that it happened), getting a sense of when breakfast was offered, etc. All of these requests were addressed in detail one by one, prior to us even arriving. We were greeted personally, warmly, and enthusiastically upon our arrival by the manager who so thoughtfully responded in advance to all my crazy requests. The hotel leverages both the Marriott Bonvoy app chat service and Whatsapp for requests, and was responsive – in both– in English and Spanish to all of our requests. The breakfast is also one of the best features of the hotel. I spent about 25% of 2021 in hotels for work or pleasure, and this is the first hotel I stayed where the hotel had the ingenuity to have a buffet breakfast (a bit scary in the pandemic), but to have only hotel staff/servers serve the items. I think this was a great way to allow for a great variety, be efficient, and safe/healthy at the same time allowing only staff in proper PPE (masks, gloves, face shields) to touch the chafing dishes, serving utensils, plates, silverware, etc. All of the utensils were individually wrapped, and all of the staff was masked and wearing gloves in the restaurant. They had an omelet station and some Panamanian staples- tamales and croquettes, that elevated this beyond the normal breakfast fare. The servers learned our coffee/tea preferences after day one and proactively brought us our desired coffee and English breakfast tea with evaporated milk each day without us asking as soon as we sat down. One a trip like this, it’s the little things that matter. We felt a little more at home each day. The pool at this hotel is small, but far underrated and (blissfully) under-advertised. A postage-stamp size rooftop pool, probably less busy given the closure of the Club Lounge, the pool was pristine and matched the color of the beautiful sky view, with the pool and sky both reflecting off of the glass towers surrounding the hotel, making it somewhat of an azure dream. We enjoyed our time at the pool immensely and easily ordered room service via whatsapp delivered to our chaise lounges poolside. The happy hour was great. I was expecting the “house beer/house wine” deal that is fairly standard, but the inclusion of Ron Abuelo (a fantastic spirit if you are into bourbon or dark rum) being included meant we never missed a happy hour :-). The bar staff took great care of us everyday; they were extremely friendly and never did they let our glasses be empty. The hotel chef arranged for a special “treat” for us, which embarrassingly (for us) was planned on the one night we missed the happy hour, but was thoughtfully recreated for us on our last night. We were presented with both a beautiful tray of langostinos and another of a great wrap with fresh meat and manchego cheese. It was far more than enough for the two of us to make a meal, and delicious, personally delivered by the hotel chef. The management was polite, present, and friendly, consistently checking in with us as we passed by the front desk. The GM was nice enough to come introduce herself to us and ensure we were having a good experience. In general I am a fairly demanding customer, and even more so right now having been on the road for about two months straight– and with this multi-purpose trip, full of comings and goings, it could have been really terrible, but the Westin made it a great experience. I would highly recommend this property.…
Adriana at the Marriott Elite desk went extra to ensure that service was rolled out accurately and courteously. The room was clean and comfortable. I felt safe and would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Costa del Este area. My room was located on the 15th floor with a beautiful sea view
