We stayed in the top floor presidential suite which has a large spa bath and great private terrace. I would call the place shabby chic but it was charming and very comfortable. The room itself is full of interesting distressed furniture with a fire place and lovely architectural features. Breakfast is freshly cooked but limited and not served outside until after 08.15 (officially 08.30). The staff were very helpful. A few points to note. There is a local animal which visits at night and its scrabbling around the roof was a shock. Also the upper room is not good for anyone with mobility issues.
We travel a lot. We stayed here for our 5 year wedding anniversary. This hotel was possibly the best one we have ever stayed in. We got the presidential room (I don't recall the name) but the service was beyond incredible. Breakfast on the terrace, fantastic recommendations, clean room, fireplace, fresh flowers, the list goes on. In a town where safety is a concern for tourists, we felt 100% safe inside the hotel. They truly made us feel like we were the most important people there and would go out of the way for any request. It's rare I'll go out of my way to write a review, maybe one per year, Poada del Angel earns it this year.
Posada del Angel is visually stunning with charm to spare. Every chair, sculpture, and tile contributes to its romantic ambience. The service is equally fantastic: Arriving at 1 am in Guatamala City and need transport to Antigua? No problem for Aníbal and the great team. They will help arrange tours, dinner, and more. If you have the chance, enjoy a hearty breakfast and awesome coffee on the roof deck. It is the perfect start to a day of exploring Antigua and I cant wait to come back!!
What a gem! We could not say enough wonderful things about Posada del Angel and the people who work there. The hotel is a beautiful and very well designed place matched by an impeccable service, truly above and beyond starting with a great welcome by the front desk staff. A wonderful breakfast is prepared and served by a terrific staff with a lot of kindness. A pool is big plus especially if one travels with an 8-year old daughter.
We stayed in the Mary Sue Suite which was perfect for us: ground floor, stunningly beautiful with an excellent bathroom and very comfortable bed. Staff throughout our stay were exceptional and spoke a surprising amount of English, which was very helpful for this lazy Brit with pigeon Spanish; even the lady serving breakfast and housekeeping made themselves well-understood. When we did need something like a G&T or sending away our laundry, it was very easy and amazingly cheap! Parking is across the road and was not a problem once we had a note from the hotel. The hotel can be easy to miss, but the parking sign is very obvious. Stop by the side of the road as soon as you see that as it’s a one-way street. Like many hotels in Antigua, you do need to ring to be let in and we didn’t have to wait more than a few seconds for this. There are loads of restaurants nearby and the main square is just under a 10 minute walk.…
I couldn't say enough wonderful things. Above and beyond service, they helped us book tours since we couldn't speak a lot of Spanish and recommended great restaurants. We were close to town but weren't kept up all night. Breakfast was amazing we ate Ranchitos, Pancakes, and French Toast all was amazing especially the coffee and orange juice. We didn't use the pool a ton but loved having a fire in our room even in July. Extremely romantic and relaxing stay.
What sets this small hotel apart from others is its excellent service. All the personnel are tremendously helpful and do all they can to make guests feel comfortable. But the Posada del Angel also has spacious, comfortable rooms, that conform to Antigua's emphasis on colonial architecture. We stayed in the green room on the ground floor. A rooftop terrace serves as a good venue to watch sunrises and sunsets with the Volcán de Agua in the background. Breakfasts are delicious, made to order, and if requested, may be enjoyed on the rooftop terrace. Nights are silent -- no noise. The hotel is located about four blocks from the cathedral and center of the city.
What an absolutely wonderful experience at this beautiful, small hotel. The staff and the service was beyond what I think I have ever received in my travels. The common areas and the rooms are just beautiful; the breakfasts were terrific; and the anything we needed was provided by the staff graciously and quickly. It was like a tranquil, private retreat from the hustle and bustle of the town. I can't think of when I have had a better experience at a hotel.
We stayed in the rose room - a lush suite on the roof with a private terrace and worth every penny of a spurlge. You can also have your breakfast on the roof, fires in your room, or sit off the pool with a glass of wine at the fireplace. I can't say enough about the warmth of the people. Also hotel super close to Casa de Artes which is an authentic store of great textiles from the 1960s and 1970s.
This was my 3rd trip to Antiqua. I have stayed at different hotels every time (El Convento & San Rafeal). This is a beautiful hotel (loved the candles at night) with a very welcoming feeling with games, guitar, etc. Breakfast with delicious. Staff was helpful. Good walking location to the square. I had the presidential suite/Rose room while my friend was below me in the Mary Sue Suite. I would recommend both. Both were beautiful and spacious with nice linens.
