The room wasn't ready when we got there. They took 2,5 hours to clean our room, and then we still didn't get to check in for a while, muy malo!Exept for that the room was big and nice, with a nice terrace and a great kitchen.

This was my second visit to Casa Rustica. The location is one block off the main square with several good restaurants, a laundry service, salon, and cafe all on the same block. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The property itself has several garden courtyards and two rooftop terraces. There is a kitchen with a microwave, toaster oven, refrigerator, and all the basic dishes. There are 2 resident sweetheart dogs who will be your best friend if you come home with something that smells good! Security is great, not that you really should be concerned in Antigua. There is always a night watchman ready to let you in after hours. The rooms are well decorated with Guatemalan textiles, TV, Wi-fi, fans, and comfortable beds. Antigua has a calm climate because of the high altitude, and I found I did not miss air conditioning. There is a nightclub a few doors down that can get annoying on Friday nights, but there are clubs like this dotted all over town. For the few hours it bothered me, I listened to my own music with earphones, fell asleep, and woke up refreshed. This is a great hotel for singles, couples, and families. I will continue to return here. Great job to the folks at Hotel Casa Rustica!!

Booked into this place for 7 nights and could only manage 4 before we had to go find another hotel. The rooms were tiny, beds uncomfortable, no windows and more akin to a prison cell than a hotel room. The noise level was appalling every evening and early morning and made decent sleep impossible. We did ask to be moved 3 times and even though they had vacancies, we were told they couldn’t. So not exactly helpful. The shared bathroom was pretty unpleasant and often entailed long waits to get into it. We found another hotel near by for a similar price and we were sad that we wasted 4 days in the appalling Casa Rustica. Do not stay here as there are plenty of great other options around Antigua. I would not stay here again if you paid me.

Dear, we are characterized by seeking the maximum satisfaction of all our guests in all the services we provide, you obtained the services for which you paid, we offered you a change of shared bathroom room what you booked to a room with private bathroom For an additional minimum surcharge and I do not accept it, we moved it to the best room with shared bathroom that we have in the hotel and we did not achieve its satisfaction either, the problem is that you look for services that exceed the budget that you handle which is incompatible.

This hotel tacked on a 6% surcharge to my rate when paying with a credit card .. not cool ... not ok ... and very wrong! Hotels have to pay a commission to banks for each credit card they process .. the hotel has to pay this .. not the guest. Just cause some other hotels do it .. doesn't make it ok! Charging the guest the commission that the hotel must pay ain't cool!

All guest have the option to pay with US dollars, Guatemalan Quetzales or Travelers checks, all of which have no extra fee ! This guest made the chose to pay with credit card and accept the fee. The hotel does not deserve a bad review for something the guest choose to do. All this info is written in our hotel policies on the reservations and web sites. So, this guest was well aware of the policies before even making their reservations. In Guatemala, if you want to accept all major credit cards, there is only 1 option as your credit card merchant. This is a monopoly and they set their merchant fee very high, between 5 and 6%. This is the reason monopolies are illegal in most countries. So, rather than raise our prices to include this which would penalize all cash or check paying customers, we give our customers the option of how to pay, and only if the customer choses to pay with credit card, we pass the merchant fee onto them. This policy is fair to cash paying customers and card paying customers. Our rates are very low anyway, $30 to $55 for a double room with bathroom, depending on weekday or weekend. Even with the 6% charge, it is only an extra $1 to $3 per night. So, if this guest is too cheap to pay an extra couple of dollars using their credit card, to be in the center of town, they need to stay at home for free.
