Boutique hotel that offers great friendly service a healthy sized breakfast and good rooms. The hotel is very interesting - you can breakfast anywhere you like, but our favourite places we in the open air atrium and the roof. The layout is interesting in itself with rooms located around the atrium and stairs going up to the roof. Here you can get a great view over the city to the hills and volcanoes surrounding Antigua city. Breakfast leans towards typical Guatemalan: a black bean dish, fried plantains, eggs, fruit. There was also a granola mixed with honey which was really nice. A great place to stay. We were breakfast only, but there are so many good restaurants within a few minutes walk.
Friendly efficient staff. Well maintained in a comfortable quirky style. Breakfast OK in buffet style. Free tea/coffee, water and hibiscus drink through the day. Comfortable seating on roof terrace and patios to relax. Room was small but lots of character. Ask for room at the back to avoid noise from breakfast. As with any hotel with internal courtyards there is some noise but it was quiet at night.
Our two night stay here was ok, but not up to the level of the other 5 places we stayed at in Central America. First of all, there is no A/C and on humid nights like the ones we were there, it made sleeping tough. The solution is to Joe. The windows but that means you can hear everything g that is going on in the courtyard and they can hear you. Beds were hard and bathroom, especially the shower was cramped. Service was not very pleasant either. No cheery greetings when we came and left and when we asked if we could get change for some local currency, they said they couldn't do it. Yet, every other place we stayed at could. Location is great and the place is definitely authentic.
This hotel is well decorated and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. You almost feel like you are staying in a museum. Highly recommended for couples. While there is no AC in the rooms, it was not needed for our stay.
I was staying at the Pensativo which is five star wonderful, but they did not hv room for any more nights as i exteneded my stay. so my travel agent moved me here. excellent hotel, they provided a fan as 99pcnt of hotels do not hv a/c as the temp here in the evenings is in the 60’s. room was a great size as I hv two queen beds as was anticipating my brother showing up from Rio Dulce. Rates are competitive and from what I experienced, really calm and relaxing quiet. beds nice, good linens. lots of common areas, GOOD WIFI Tons of restaurants, bars shopping close by as well. Enjoy
Spent one nigh here. Really cute place. In the morning for breakfast I ordered Eggs and my colleague pancakes. I asked for an extra pancake, so 4 instead of 3 and was informed that was not possible and they would have to make a full plate and charge me Q50 (approx USD7). I said ok because obviously they were not customer focused. Then I asked for an additional piece of bread and was refused then I asked again and was given the of the load. Let’s not forget I have breakfast included and have paid additionally for the pancakes. I don’t understand how management trains the staff. I’m sure this would not happen in other places.
I really wanted to like this place... The owner obviously put a lot of work in to the quaint ambiance. But the rooms are hot and stuffy with no air flow and outside each room are very convenient tables with power outlets. You have no choice but open all your windows. Day and night digital nomads, millennials and remote workers will park their butt outside your room.... Talking for hours on phone and zoom to anyone that will listen. Last night at 2am a guy was talking with his boss 4 feet from our bed. No matter how nicley you ask people to use public areas you are told you have no right to control the area 4 feet from where you sleep. Staff could not careless.
Centrally located in old town Antigua, close to all eating joints. Very charming place with courtyards and a great rooftop. Very good service. We did not enjoy the rooms a lot, they could definitely use an uplift in paint while still maintaining their quaintness. We had trouble with hot water too.
Very nice 'colonial' style hotel, very central literally round the corner from the towns famous arc. Room was large and spacious. Breakfast was ok different options both days i stayed . Friendly reception. Only thing to note you need to book their shuttle service 24hours in advance.
The hotel decor, location, rooftop lounge and staff are 5+ stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The room, bathroom, breakfast and amenities - 3.5 stars! We were in a deluxe room with 2 Queen beds. One of the beds was less than 2 feet from the only window in the room so privacy - with window open - is impossible. Artificial light is okay but dark without window shades drawn. Comforters are too thick and heavy, beds super firm although not uncomfortable, Noise level: 3 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️. No A/C or fan in room means a window must stay open for any fresh air circulation. Can hear everything including clanking of dishes in breakfast courtyard, water running through pipes in adjoining wall and even ‘ahem’ the intimate pleasures of our next door neighbors. Note to guests: be cognizant of your voice level especially late at night and early in the a.m. LOWER your voice and don’t leave laundry out to dry in public area. This isn’t a hostel.…
