A small hotel over the west wall of the palace. the rooms have been recently completely refurbished. The staff are brilliant and couldn't be more helpful. It seems only carping when I say that the orange juice for breakfast needs more oranges

Hidden in a tiny way just inside the southern gate of Diocletian's Palace, but a perfect refuge in bustling old town Split. Steps from bars, taverns and restaurants, which lend an urban buzz to the neighborhood. Comfortable updated rooms, friendly staff and very nice breakfast space/service/selection. This place is in the thick of history and you can feel and touch... More

Stayed for 4 nights at this hotel , we arrived at 12 and as we had e-mailed ahead they had made a point of having our room ready for our arrival time which was great after an early start. our room was on the 4th floor with a terrace (405) worth paying the extra for the views over the town... More

Checkin was a breeze with the friendly & helpful receptionist; room was clean, modern & had a good layout; bed was comfortable & aircon worked well, free wifi was fast; breakfast was simple yet so delicious... And location was perfect! So much history & so convenient to all the interesting sites! Oh, and the cafe right outside is great for... More

Location is great, close to the southern entrance of the palace and surrounded by restaurants and pubs. Rooms are newly renovated and comfortable. Inconveniences are the lack of garage, no views in the rooms. My bed was really hard and I had difficulty sleeping. Service was very friendly and breakfast was good.

Stayed 3 nights in Hotel Slavija. Location couldn't have been more convenient, in old city, part of the Diocletian's Palace and only a minute away from the Riva (waterfront Promenade). Breakfast included in our room was the usual buffet choices with extra hot eggs etc as desired, great coffee also. Room wasn't quite ready as we checked in early but... More

We decided to stay another two days in Split after our seven day cruise that ended in the harbour of Split. So glad we did because the one day before and after the cruise in Split was far to short to experiece everything to do and to see. Luckily it was just a fairly short walk with our luggage from... This hotel is so perfectly placed in the old part of Split - right by the palace walls - that you can pop in and out all day and still see the whole town. The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. The breakfast is very good with lovely staff. The WiFi is fast and there are lots of English... More

Really enjoyed our time at the Slavija, however in retrospect we should have stayed longer. The location is great, close to the water yet set inside the old city. You will have to walk a little with luggage, as the old city is a pedestrian only area, however it is worth it. The check in was easy - very friendly... More

Sadly we could only book one night in this old Venetian-style Palace / Hotel situated just inside Diocletian's ancient Roman Palace complex. It was an easy 'trundle' from the Split-Vis Ferry as us two 'oldies' lugged our cases along the Quay to the Esplanade / Riva, up the marble stairway and into the entrance hall. What a friendly and uncomplicated... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Slavija is type of a heritage hotel due to its location, history and protection by Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia and UNESCO. The Diocletian's Palace was built in the middle of the 3rd century AD, while the Hotel Slavija was built inside its walls, above the Emperor's western baths. Therefore, it can be concluded that the building of the hotel influenced the protection of the Baths from the devastation. With time the building of the hotel expanded, and from the Baroque palace it became today's Hotel Slavija. Hotel Slavija is under the protection of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, and in part is protected by the UNESCO. The location in the very center of the town makes Hotel Slavija an ideal choice for a stay in Split, surrounded by all relevant historical buildings of the city of Split, including the Temple of Jupiter, the St. Duje Cathedral, the Milesi palace... It is ideal place for both business and pleasure travelers because of its location. Hotel is situated in the very center of the city and is but a few minutes walk from all the major attractions as well as from the main bus terminal, airport shuttle terminal, railway station and ferry. The hotel has 25 rooms and each room is air conditioned, with private bath, hair dryer, satellite TV, Internet connection and direct dial telephone. Some of the rooms are with terraces and Hotel is especially proud to present them because, terraces are rarity in the old part of Split. In the lobby of the hotel is Internet Hot spot, which is free for hotel guests. We also provide faxing, copying, printing and scanning, as well as laundry service. ... more   less
